The Esprit's V8 was a custom built engine for a sports car, designed in house at Lotus for the Esprit. The Exige's V6 was designed by Toyota for a people carrier.
Which begs the question as to why Lotus think they can ask £120k for a car with a people carrier engine then ?
Why does it beg that question. .obviously they can, they sell other cars with the same engine.

TVR managed to sell plenty of cars with the engine from a van amongst other things,
TVR did, but they were not asking £120k a pop.

I don't think you know what they would have charged if they had been offering a race car with a £20k+ sequential box and which could match the race pace of this Lotus.

It's a bloody track car, to be used in race series
Cheap for it's intended use

The box and suspension are nigh on £30k plus
