Snow socks - bloody brilliant!

Had cause to try out the snow socks that have been languishing in the boot for the last 18months this morning. we had a mere 1/2 - 1" of the white stuff on the road this morning with temps still around freezing. I backed off the drive onto the road where I had to set off uphill (probably 7-10% gradient). I was hopeful that engaging drive and letting the car creep would get me moving but it didn't and the application of any throttle just moved the back end towards the kerb following the camber of the road.
To be fair I was probably being optimistic that an xkr with huge wide rears and 50% worn summer tyres was going anywhere and it wasn't. That was until I fitted the socks. They took probably only a minute each side to fit and I drove up the road with no drama at all. Absolutely spot on to allow me to get out to the treated roads. as soon as I was off the untreated roads taking them off was even quicker than putting them on. All in all, well impressed with them.
