There has also been a proposal muted for peak time charging...
They kept that quiet!

We should blame the French anyway, just to be on the safe side.

Either way it's a scam.
Yup, robbing liars promised the charge would be dropped. It's also a fking PITA now you can't pay with cash.
It is a lovely system for the French though. I come over and use the tunnel/bridge as much as I like for free. Get some foreign plates folks!

Personally I don't see that as a problem, I'd rather not pay in cash.

Also, "Le crossing"
Total pain in the ass when you have no data plan and are driving to a location with no wifi. I always have to make a stop at the services if I need to or not to use their wifi to pay the fker.

Also we were promised we wouldn't have to pay the lying s.

edit to add: I must be fking stupid but in non UK registered cars I still pay.

This. I'd also heard that historically female tool booth operatives were contractually forbidden from shaving their arm pits and that when a north easterly wind was prevelent the stench of socialism was unbearable in and around the Erith area.

Or that's my post truth reality anyway

laugh The likely result of the forthcoming presidential election might lead to a re-calibration of the Kent population's olfactory sense...

Sanef have the contract for operating the charging system which is probably where the misconception comes from.
But Sanef is a French firm, one way or another I'd say that means it's owned by the French.

They have a 7 year contract to take your money but presumably don't own any of the assets. They basically just rent it wink

They may not own it, but they make money from it.

Yes, I think we should piss them off and stop using it.

Why the sensitivity on the part of the OP when 5 minutes googling reveals that:-

"Egis is 75% owned by the French “Caisse des Dépôts” and 25% owned by Iosis Partenaires, (a “partner” executive and employee shareholding)."

With no information on the websites as to what proportion of the consortium Egis owns.

So the company that owns and operates the Dartford Crossing is partly owned by the French.

Andy
Please stop this madness & re-read the op. Connect Plus do not own it.. We own it & connect plus run it on behalf of Highways England..
