I keep an eye on it just to see if there's an issue lurking - running rich un-noticed could poison the cat if left too long.

I haven't got a clue other than it isn't great, so therefore less painful to keep an eye on it smile

Knowing it wouldn't serve any purpose other than to lessen my enjoyment of driving.

The OBD works it out and I know roughly what it's getting (about 25mpg) but I don't really care.
I just have it set to display "miles remaining".

As I'm now down to about 2.4k of personal miles + another 2.4k of business miles per year (which is about half what it was previously) though I'm thinking now that I could afford something even worse on fuel so I could not care about that either. smile

I'm hoping the TVR is in the teens... If it's in the low 20's I'm obviously not driving it right smile Although I don't actually have a clue what it does.. I am however pretty sure it's well into single figures on track biggrin

As long as I have enough to get me wherever I'm going, I don't really give it that much thought.

No idea. I knew a 3.0 petrol with a lovely top end would be thirsty so I never check.

I know what mpg my car is doing & I was well aware of what mpg I thought it would be doing before I bought it.

The difference between the expected mpg and actual mpg is dependant use.
Overall I do so few miles a year. That when I monitor the mpg its more to make sure everything is in order rather than worrying how much or little its doing to the gallon.

I know I could have something more pistonheads/faster/better(delete as you wish) that would return similar/better mpg but the car fits my needs and does what I want which is the important thing.

In the daily derv I seem to be pretty fanatical about what it is or isn't doing (god knows why ?). In the weekend toy I've never ever once tried to work it out.

I've never given a toss and never will. Life's too short.

I can't stand being in a car with someone who does that ludicrously timid, gentle driving "to keep their MPG down". The same types who keep multiple spreadsheets logging it all. People spend hours working all this stuff out...what is the matter with you? Just drive the bloody car FFS.
I do the spreadsheet thing for mpg, and have had 88mpg out of my car.
I also do this. https://youtu.be/E0lgNuXTdyI

I know mine because I log my fuel usage but the actual MPG figure doesn't bother me much.

I've logged all my cars from the Cerbera to the 530d... Its much easier to diagnose an issue when you know real figures.

What I don't do is look at the cost of fuel when I fill up.. all I know is its "expensive... always". When people comment on the current price of fuel, I never have a clue what it is.. including now even after having just filled the car up!

Same here. Although when I Was looking at the log the other day I did notice that for the last 5 weeks (one tank a week) the price has gone up by 0.1p every single week!

My daily tells me, if I press the right button!

No idea with the 'Toy' I use it & when the needle hits 1/4, I know I'm in for £65ish of V Power.

Never expected much from a mid 90's Straight 6 Auto in the first place!!

No idea what our boat uses either.

Part of the fun of ownership I reckon.

I've known for every car that's given mr a readout on the screen - I'm happy enough to use that to estimate.

My Caterham has no such display, and therefore I have no idea what MPG it returns. I'd like to know out of curiosity, but I'm honestly not bothered enough to actually log it and work it out.

It's not that I care but if my car's not performing as it should I'm concerned. Right now my RX300 appears to be delivering about 12-15mpg. For similar journeys, my S60 2.4T was doing about 22mpg. I would have expected closer to 20mpg and would be happy with 18mpg.

All I know is the MG is OK and the RX is not. I just fill them up when they tell me to and try not to think about it.

I only cared when I had a Jag XJ12 as a daily. Used to tootle the 2odd miles to the station and saw that 1 was doing 7 mpg there and back.
A trip to see my mum the other side of London would cost £40!
At least it got me fit as I bought a bike to go to the station.

what are you actually going to do with the fresh data that you collect personally? What actual purpose can it serve?
It tells you how far you can afford to drive.

I use the fuelly app to log mine, initially out of curiosity to see how inaccurate / accurate the obc is & it's info that helps build up data for my particular model that other people can reference to see what 'real world' economy they might get prior to purchasing a similar vehicle as it's available freely online.

I will be interested / checking if there is a difference once the emissions gate scandal recall is carried out if i still have the vehicle then of course.
