Yesterday's colours: best colour on a car
Discussion
I've skimmed the thread so far, and only one post has even hinted at the obvious:
That certain colours suit certain designs of vehicle better than others.
And it's no coincidence that manufacturer's colour choices are FAR from random.
What do you think they do? Throw darts at a Dulux colour chart?
Whether or not those colour choices are in accord with an individual's subjective sense of taste is another matter altogether.
Current fashions and trends in everything from clothes to house interiors also influence colour choices.
But then, I know nothing about design....

Once had a Vectra 2.5 SRI in Titanium, really loved it and what's more it didn't show the dirt. I hate silver with a vengeance, mostly because everybody's got one, however I did buy a 2 litre MX5 in silver because it was to good a bargain to miss (didn't keep it long though). Otherwise I'm a sucker for red.

I'm not telling you anything Tuvra, I just like the colours! Looking up and down the road outside my house I see a dull vista of grey, silver, black, more grey and yet more silver... the only exception being my own metallic red Alfa and a neighbour's '50s Ford Pop in hearing aid beige. I like a bit of colour!
Colours like mustard yellow, washed out green and brown? This isn't a colour I like but I do like Ford's confidence to launch the Mondeo with it to get eve catching front pages and magazine pictures
As another poster said, car companies have a reason for the colours they offer. The plain colours are for good residual values. The eye catching ones either to get attention or to appeal to niche customers. Ford (and others I imagine) generally have a launch colour that isn't expected to sell that well but makes the car stand out to help its initial promotion. Premier OEM's tend to offer "bespoke" services at a cost so don't need to have launch colours
Anyway, adds a bit more colour to an already colourful thread
