Rodent proof?

i thought this was a joke but it turns out it is a genuine story.

http://www.dromoreleader.co.uk/news/a-rat-ate-my-m...

"Mr Matchett urged other Merc owners to be wary of the plastic components as they may not be ‘rodent-proof’."

A spokesperson for Mercedes-Benz said: “This must be an unfortunate and upsetting situation for Mr Matchett and while we do offer an extremely comprehensive warranty, it doesn’t cover damage caused by external influences, such as wildlife. Unfortunately, our technical experts haven’t been given access to inspect the car so it’s difficult for us to comment further and our recommendation is that Mr Matchett contacts his insurance company.”

I agree with Mercedes, it's not their fault, why should they pay?

So when the rats Lada (geddit?) is taken to be repaired & the poor hungry rats move into his loft & chew up the house wiring, who will be at fault then?

We had a mouse chew their way into our Skoda Superb causing a few hundred quids damage to the trim and gear-lever gaiter , I had a rat chew the coil wires under the bonnet of my Skoda Fabia , I only had to pay for the wiring, Skoda covered the labour

It's pretty common
