I was at a Ford dealer this week and the salesman was telling me they bought in 3 of these as soon they could.

Sold one of them straightaway.

Still have two sitting in the forecourt. Cannot sell them

He was also moaning about the four wheel drive system coming from the Kuga and how slow witted it is.

I've had a bit of RS envy, since it was announced last year after buying my STI. I know my car isn't perfect but I love it. Hearing about this apparently slow witted 4WD system makes me happy though. Yes, schadenfreude is a sad thing but it exists

Well this Ford dealer is also a Subaru dealer.

I bought a new STi in glacier white. I have asked for it to be registered in April so will only be £140 road tax.

Had a Golf R as my weekend toy but it was not much fun.

Glad you like your STi, seems to be a much loved car for a choosen few.

Has the fleet Focus RS had it's firmware updated yet? It seems to add (according to Interwebnet reports anyway) a bit more oomph and crackles'n'pops in the non-road modes. Track mode + soft suspension + traction on, seems to be popular.

This salesman seems confused. When did the 4wd system come from a kuga?

Lack of knowledge amongst sales people can be shocking!
It isn't from a Kuga - but being a sales person I imagine he just deduced it must be as that's the only AWD Ford sell so must be the same!

I'm going to guess that none of the above happened.

He was wrong, the Kuga AWD comes from the Focus. Not vice versa. I think Vauxhall are using it now as well.

No idea what he means by slow witted though

Reading that link explains what a basic 4 wheel drive system it is on the RS. Drive is front to back and back to front. Very rudimentary compared to the systems from Subaru and Audi.

Sales guy was right.

The RS system is underdeveloped and looks to have been rushed to market.

Go to YouTube and type in 'Ford Focus RS drift fail'

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fOelONV_unQ

This is one of several videos.

Very funny

You seem to know absolutely nothing about it, especially seeing as you're going off incorrect information from a salesman!

In what way is it underdeveloped? The fundamental basis of the system is from the Evoque where it's been praised for making the SUV drive like a lighter car, this has been taken further by Ford and developed for a performance based car (the Evoque system destroyed itself when fitted to the test car). Also note there's no decoupling of the prop as in the Evoque.

Read more and type less hearsay from a salesman is what I would suggest or even open your mind and go drive it as "slow witted" is not something you can say about the AWD system wink

The sales guy was wrong because the RS didn't get its drivetrain from a Kuga. In fact, the Kuga doesn't get it's drivetrain from the RS either, it's merely based on a similar idea.

Which dealer is this?
