No, you were talking about need.
Yes, most people could probably get by with 1wheel drive, 2 seats,a tiny boot and no creature comforts. It doesn't mean that things can't be improved. If you have ever had wheelspin out of a junction whilst trying to make a decent getaway (every fwd car I have ever owned or been in) then you need not have that. Also massive amounts of extra traction on all surfaces are helpful at pretty much every time.
If you have never tried an AWD performance car then you really should give it a go.

I've tried 4wd before in various audi's, the Quattro system isn't as playful as that in the focus. Not convienced it's needed, especially the added weight it brings and the two extra tires you need buy every year plus diff maintenance. Some people are paying a premium for the focus rs, up to 38k. 38k willl get you almost a brand new entry level brand Porsche Cayman 718. Not far off a BMW m2 both better performance cars.

Some impressive financial gymnastics there to make them all look the same price. The reality is:FRS: £30,870
718: £39,878
M2: £44,070

Haldex in Audis (as per my S60R) feels totally different to full time AWD (as per my impreza) which again feels very different to the twinster system in the RS. Haldex is the most boring of the 3 by far. Try a car with proper awd. Some people are paying a premium for the focus rs, up to 38k. 38k willl get you almost a brand new entry level brand Porsche Cayman 718. Replacing tyres doesn't come into it. Tyres need replacing on all cars. Diff maintenance? The RS has no rear diff and in my impreza I have changed the oil once in 5 years which is no expense.
I didn't pay £38k for my RS and neither did I want a Cayman (I have no interest ìin one at all and don't want a 2 seater). The M2 is £20k more so at a totally different price point.

I had an M2 on order, a basic car was 33% more than an FRS with £4k worth of options, I decided the M2 wasn't 33% better and went with Ford. Some people are paying a premium for the focus rs, up to 38k. 38k willl get you almost a brand new entry level brand Porsche Cayman 718. Your points about 4WD are hilarious, to have these opinions you have obviously never attempted to drive a 4WD car quick in the wet. I once spanked a 507 C63 in my Golf R in wet conditions, I can only assume he was having massive traction issues while the Golf just gripped remarkably well. Every single article I have read abouyt the FRS says that if it loses out to the CTR, it regains the upper hand in the wet, in fact your probably the only person I have come across that tries to deny this fact. Its pretty undeniable that a 4WD will have a better launch and better wet weather capabilities.
The rest is up for debate but I don't think them two points are....
ETA: My local BMW dealer is currently trying to sell a BMW M2 with 600 miles on the clock for around a £6k mark up (£54,880), that's £21k more than I paid for my factory ordered brand new FRS, so yeah, your points are irrelevant again.

Would love to hear more about the car rather than the bhing!
How are you guys finding the front tyre wear apparent issue? Is it any worse than the mk2 as mine did go through front tyres.
Seriously thinking about one of these if the prices come down a bit.
I've not seen anyone have tyre issues as yet, I'm only on 3k so unlikely to hit the mileage until closer to summer. How are you guys finding the front tyre wear apparent issue? Is it any worse than the mk2 as mine did go through front tyres.

I'd imagine due to the lack of opportunity to break front end traction it should be better than the MK2?

Well this Ford dealer is also a Subaru dealer.
I bought a new STi in glacier white. I have asked for it to be registered in April so will only be £140 road tax.
Had a Golf R as my weekend toy but it was not much fun.
Glad you like your STi, seems to be a much loved car for a choosen few.
Lovely. I love the new STI in white. Mine has a Subaru Performance Exhaust. I love the sound at startup, idle, and high rpm, but the motorway drone is wearing now after 20k miles. Thinking of swapping back to standard or getting a different exhaust I bought a new STi in glacier white. I have asked for it to be registered in April so will only be £140 road tax.

My 2016 Subaru STI has a lot of issues according to journos, and some of them bother me but most don't and tbh I don't care that much. I love my car and yes even though the Focus RS is better, and the Golf R is more liveable, it doesn't matter to me because I love my car, just like I love my wife. I think she's fit but some may not and thats fine. I chose both of them for highly personal reasons.
That RS does look absolutely mega in blue though and goes like the proverbial...

From owning a mk2 RS and completely turning up my nose at the mk3 when it was first released I have now come full circle and love the looks, noise and 4wd.
I really really want one. But can't afford one! Going to have to start saving.
Does anyone know if there is a limited run with these or will they keep making them for a few years?
Not sure if I'd want to buy one with 40k+ miles on a couple of years down the line.
