I still think the Macan looks good for an SUV.

Where the Germans lead though is on the quality, especially the interiors.

We don't really know what the Alfa is like yet interior quality wise, but I have been unimpressed with recent jags I've been in. An F-Pace at £60k+ felt no more special than 30k level. Sharp plastics on door bins and cheap feeling leather and dashboard trims.

I'd love this Alfa and the Guilia to be a success.
PERCEIVED quality. It's not actually 'quality' at all.

This car is so polarising. To me it looks like an over-inflated 147. The rear is so clumsy. Genuinely heavy and bulbous and the detailing overall is fussy and lacks any kind of clear direction. It's not easy to design a tall "car", the Jaguar F-Pace and Macan come closes to something I'd want to be seen in, but I simply don't understand the praise for this Alfa. The again I'm not a fan of the saloon either and I have owned Alfas (and admired the brand since I can remember) before I am accused of anti-Italian bias.

Easily the best looking SUV out there.

Like the Quad, there is something about the Stelvio that is "not quite right". Does not hit the mark.

Agreed. It looks like it has been over inflated slightly.

I think Alfa are on a bit of a roll with the Quadriwatsit and this. And why not - time to bring style back to a terribly dull sector.

I think it looks quite good, and especially the interior. Was considering an F-Pace recently, like the outside but not the inside unfortunately, as I really wanted to like it. It's not just the materials that look cheap, the basic design looks old and angular, espeically around the base of the center console. A golf has a better designed and resolved interior.

Well I'm not gonna buy one. It riles me enough when people call me "Steevo" - so I'm certainly not going to run the risk of them calling me "Stevio" irked

Sooooo, "a century of history" (to paraphrase) and the result is not some glorious, elegant thing but... a jeep.

Love the marketing speak on this 😊

Looks a bit blobby. I don't feel anything, just another SUV. Would make a nice rental car.

Looking forward to the Lotus SUV.

Edit. I like the steering wheel.

I can't actually work out how big this thing is. In some pictures it looks huge and in others it looks tiny. Is this a full sized SUV or is it going to be Q3\X3 sized?

Also I was under the impression that this was going to be released in the US by the end of the year and the UK would get it some time in 2018? Matt if you read this can you confirm Alfa have said it will actually be available in showrooms before the end of the year? The missus is after an SUV and if we have to have one, I'd rather it where an Alfa then anything else tbh.

Q3 & X3 are different sizes. Q5 & X3 in the same segment, as will be the Stelvio

Really I never knew that, guess the name conventions are throwing me off? Although I have to say I've been looking at SUV's and while I don't know the official measurements, the X3 seems to be a bit smaller than the Q5?

At any rate if this things is Q5 sized that will be good enough.

The rear three-quarter view looks extremely heavy. Think this design might be extremely colour sensitive.

Agree. There's a lot of dead space there.

F-Pace looks much more athletic I reckon.

Still hope it does well, I'd love for Alfa to have some sales success!

the weight of the rear was one of the reasons I assumed the Masser was more than just family

That made me laugh...designers do have a habit of taking 'corporate design language' beyond its plausible limits, sometimes.
