Just wondered if anyone out there could share their opinion on these tyres? Are they worth the money?

Honestly they are probably the best tyres on the market for road use. However you pay a premium for that claim. Whether that premium is worth it or not is entirely personal preference.

Truly great tyres.

Transformed my JCW though admittedly it was on run flats before them. Been working well below 7 degrees as well.

I have read great things about them and iirc they recently won autoexpress tyre test.

I just wondered if they are worth £30-£40 per tyre than say a Goodyear eagle F1/Dunlop sportmaxx/Pirelli Pzero etc...?

Is wear rate good too?

Got them on the Saab, I find wet grip is decent but was better with the old RS3's. Dry grips outstanding though. Right up there with the V70A's I had a few years ago.

I'd definitely buy again smile

I was looking at these up until last week, I ended up going for Vredestein Ultrac Vorti's instead as they were £30 a tyre chesper!! And pretty much every review I've seen rated them just as highly.

Ignore reviews about them not being good in the wet, I've pushed them a fair bit this week to see how good they are and can't fault them. The car feels a bit more responsive than with the old Pilot Sport 3's on it before also.

Pilot Sport 3 is a completely different class of tyre to the PS2/PSS/PS4

You'll find the Vreds wear a lot quicker than the Michelins, my Pilot Super Sports generally last between 20/30k miles on the non driven wheels, which I find incredible and worth the premium just for that.

I used to think so too. But I'm now on branded Pirellis, and they are as good, if not better. Michelins do suffer from aqua-planing more than others when they get to 4mm left. So best tyres on the market for road use? Sometimes, but not always.

Which Michelins and where's this about aquaplaning below 4mm from? Never find it a great idea to generalise a lot of tyres from the same company myself.

Hehe I'll be 100% honest with you I've never ran them personally, I base my opinion on trusted sources though. I'm currently running bridgestone potenza's, previously ran uniroyal RS3s, Kumho Ecstas, Falken ze14s and vdrestein quads. And various cheap winters, and tat that previous owners have put on my car. Personally I see the upper mid-range to be the best bang for buck for my low budget hot hatches. Proper top of the line stuff you pay ~80% more for that ~10% more performance. Although I can totally see why folk get them as its money well spent if you can afford it.

I am very happy with mine - provide a lot of grip and I am not sure who is complaining about wet handling but I find them very good in the wet and going through large puddles I have more control and stability than before.

Is there not a 4 S version of this tyre due out in the next 2-3 weeks?

The S is only available in 19 and 20 inch I believe and as soon as the Pirelli's on my GTS are done I will be replacing them with the S.

Brilliant tyres, by far the best I've used wet or dry.
