Michelin Pilot Sport 4
Discussion
I’m not sure if there’s any science to back this up, but it may depend on the car. Having always liked Contis on my previous car I was disappointed with them on my Focus ST. I’ve found the Pilot Sport 4s have been in a different class to the Contis on the ST for both dry and wet grip.

Well, different cars can certainly need different tyres. The Z4 is a good point, the car is extremely stiff, it is also over damped for UK roads, so the firmer Asymmetric 5 didn't gel with it compared the the slightly softer PS4. Same with the Porsche, a bit more bite is a good thing, it helps you keep speed up.
Now, I put Michelin Primacy on my 530d Touring recently as I heard they were one of the most 'comfortable' run flat tyres, and to be fair they are. But I would imagine the AS5 would still be slightly softer than the Primacy run flat and offer better grip and feel, so would probably chose the AS5 over the PS4 on that car.
I hate Contis, hate them. They are great at first, but the rubber starts to go hard after 12-24 months and they start to go downhill very fast.

Good info - thanks. The SportContact UHP range is notorious for wearing quickly. Seems Continental are addressing this in the PremiumContact line.https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2020-Auto-Bild...
