Got family over in Birmingham and I must say it's a total dump to drive in, especially in the areas dominated by ethnic minorities. People randomly walk into the road, drivers never seem to indicate or have a clue about the highway code. Also the amount of illegal parking is shocking. No wonder its the worst UK city for insurance.

I live close to the city centre for my uni, I agree completely. The parking is what annoys me the most, people park in the bus lanes because that's where their house is. There's a school opposite and people park blocking the mini roundabout. I get genuinely surprised if a driver slows down so I can cross the road. It's madness

Well, as a Black Country lad, if Britain had piles they'd be in Brum hehe

But there is carp driving about everywhere - big cities, small towns, posh places and run-down bits....

And there is good driving too, even in places you wouldn't expect it yikes

Jesus How bad is Birmingham if it's worse than Bradford? It must be pretty close I'd have thought.

Leicester is quite fun. Seems to have a fair number people intent on suicide or mayhem attempting to drive. The concept of lanes is unknown.

Wolverhampton
Bradford
Parts of Leeds

I think Bradford and Leeds are easily the worst. I remember driving down the wrong street and a bunch of ethnics staring at me as if I was lost.

I myself am an ethnic of the Sikh variety minus turban and beard.

It was disconcerting to say the least as I was not a local. Merely passing through the st hole known as Bradford.

No surprises there, Bradford, Birmingham etc. have a large population of ethnic minorities. They do seem to have some nice cars however.

Poorly maintained, never serviced and kept on the road.

I find in Birmingham the standard of driving is just generally crap. The very worst though are the ethnic minorities, either as minicab drivers who simply don't possess the aptitude to operate a vehicle safely or considerately as far as I can tell, or the young rudeboys in a blacked out Audi/BMW/Merc/VW who tailgate with the seat reclined and the cripple hook over the steering wheel.

I had an encounter with such a specimen a few months back during a rare venture into North Birmingham. Not sure what I can really say without not being "politically correct", other than he was a tt. He was in a BMW. He seemed to think the road was his private racetrack and how dare I venture out onto a public road and happen to be in his way.

TBF I've found driving in those places to be more relaxing with less road rage. You see some stupid crap but you see no one going mental other than caucasian folks. The other ethnics carry on as normal hehe

May I nominate the Principality of Medway: Chavham, Strood, Rochester, Gillingham etc.

Being an historic overspill from London everyone is a gangsta, bruv, innit and they often drive to the stereotype.

Bradford is truly horrific. It's scary that zooming down the wrong side of the road to get to a junction seems to be considered the 'norm'.

Zooming is such a great word by the way.

Why? The areas dominated by ethnic minorities? Nice one OP. Not.

last summer i was working on a property in birmingham. i was then dropping off some lads in derby and then going home to stoke. the standard of driving in birmingham was shocking , a lot of needless agression too from our eastern european friends.
it was like some weird parallel universe, when i was back in derby or stoke , everything was calm and normal again.
