Owner is a hero. Need to get him on here so we can be regailed by stories of GT3 adventures. Hopefully not just 80 miles a day up and down the M1 or something.
Often travels across Europe for business apparently - I could think of better ways of doing that...get a turbo!

A Turbo certainly won't give him that GT3 experience. I wonder what he replaced it with.

Really, not sure if GT3's make good daily's, good for long Euro, Highlands and North Wales trips sure.
I'd be more than happy using mine as a daily;
regularly do 300 mile trips with no issue

I never expected to get such coverage!
Sorry I missed most of the posts.

But, if there are still any readers out there. Bit of background on me and the cars.

Yes, the 996 GT3 at 180K was also mine. I ran that from 2006 to 2011. In those heady dates I spent loads of time in Holland, Germany and France. I needed a bit more comfort, so the 997 was an obvious replacement.

From Aug 2011 till Dec 2016 the 997 was a daily driver. Same stuff, Europe and UK. Matt at Fearnsport was responsible for fettling and tender care. Never lets you down and always ready to help with anything.

The plan had been to move into a 997.2 after 4 years. But prices just went up and up and out of range. So I decided to keep it. At 120,000 it went through the 111 point check and Porsche issued a 2 year warranty. Over the past 2 years, Ive been working increasingly in Canada and less in the UK. Europe is now a distant memory. Never even got to Le Mans in 2016.

Got itchy feet, but had no clue what to replace it with. XKR, GTR, Evora??

Saw an XJR-S on Autotrader on Wednesday. Went to Boroughbridge to see it on Thursday. Bought it on Friday. Drove back for the last time in the GT3 the following Thursday and said a fond and very sad goodbye.

2 GT3s, 330,000 miles. A million grins.....never had to change a brake pad...and no over revs. Its been a load of fun!

Lot of M-way miles and some careful driving (planning ahead...), and it's possible. Ex-copper I worked with a few years ago had close to 100k on his Audi with original pads as most of his journeys were long.

My Volvo V60 daily has 102,000 miles and is still on its original disks and pads all-round. Last service was advised they're going to be needed so will be changed shortly, but lots of motorway mileage and no daft braking and it's possible. 30k miles out of front tyres and 60k out of rears too, using the original spec Contisports makes for frugal motoring thumbup
