I wonder if this car has been used as a rental / track day experience Simon George Murcielago type thing. That's an extraordinary amount of miles to accumulate in such a car in a short period of time in "normal use". It's hard to imagine someone commuting up and down the motorway in it.

Fantastic motor, but £55k?

Nope, one person has used this as road transport in the UK and Europe. His car before this was a 996 GT3 with 180,000 miles when sold. smile

Yes, this 997 GT3 has done a lot of miles but it's a super spec and appears to be in great condition. Of course there are no guarantees but a complete service history and a 111-point inspection should provide some peace of mind, at least. If it passes with flying colours just jump in and enjoy! At this price you can afford to spend some TLC on it, and who knows with the way the market is right now you might even break even when, and if, it comes to resale. Far more interesting to read about this than yet another 500k 991R.

A mega-mileage 911?

I'd have no problem with this GT3.

No IMS worries? What has it had done then? I know of about four 7RSs that have needed IMS.
Really? I'd like to see the details on these RSs that needed IMS work considering the IMS design in the Mezger engine is completely different to the M96/7 series engine...

To the OP, best of luck with the purchase what a fantastic car, somehow prefer these to the 997.2 or any GT3 after. Having just read about the Stateside 356 with a million miles on the clock I'm sure you'll be in for many, many miles of driving heaven...

I bet this will be one of the threads where we look back and the car is now worth far more than £55k. Like the £30k Ferrari that lots of people would have never touched.

The reality is that would have been worth a lot less 2 years ago, but it is a compartive bargain given where these cars have gone. I paid just a few grand more for mine and it had a tenth of the mileage!

As i understand it, the car is already sold. The owner has posted in the Porsche section - seemed it was mostly motorway miles.

So gentlemen, I am the guy that has decided to take the plunge and buy this thing (subject to it passing its 111 point inspection at an OPC tomorrow). It was this or a used Lotus Exige and as much as I love Lotus (having owned an Elise and 2-11), I need to tick the GT3 box! Needless to say I have done my homework (won't bore you with details of that) and I believe it to be a very nice car (although a new clutch is required). Will keep you posted with how I get on...
You sir have won Pistonheads. Great work, enjoy.

I got it done in the winter ( quiet in the off season in Canada...about $2,000 as I recall.)

I concur, sounds expensive, this is not even 997.2 model. At 150k on the high-revving engine...I bet it will need an overhaul soon, that's like 30k or so?
