RE: GT faster than Ferrari! (According to Ford)

Both spring and damper rates are apparently variable, along with ride-height.
I wouldn't call it a true "active suspension" in that it doesn't seem to automatically adjust itself as loads change to keep the car level and the tyres in contact with the road, but it's a fairly advanced setup in terms of driver configurability (if that's a word).

Damper rates are variable but that seems to be simply an electronic system of adjustment rather than manually lifting the car up to change the settings by clicks. It's a very good system especially with the dual springs which I'm not sure why a lot more sports car manufacturers aren't using (I think the 4.0RS had that on the rear and not just a helper + main as on a few other GT Porsches) but none of which suggests it's actively adjusting as compared to simply changing to various preset configurations when the driver wants it to.

Great car. But watching faces drop when you tell your posh party guests you "drive a Ford" will kill the buzz in a nanosecond.
Funnily enough I thought the complete opposite. It would be great, if asked what you drive to honestly say 'oh just a ford' and cut short the usual painful conversations about how fast it goes or what's the point if you answer Lambo/Ferrari/Porsche.big_rob_sydney said:
Anyone know how much they cost versus the competing cars? I mean, its one thing if they all cost similar money, but quite another if the "winner" costs a lot more. That means you're not really comparing like for like.
$520,000 spec'd up according to Shmee150 who mentioned a few days ago that he'd be paying a 50% deposit 9 months or so before delivery,@3:25

It's disappointing heavy to be honest. Fully carbon fibre and a 6 cylinder engine I'd have thought the fully fuelled weight would be below 1350kg nevermind dry.
Also per the article..."the most advanced active suspension system in the segment"... that isn't the case surely as the multimatic dampers aren't active from everything I've read?
Trying to meet worldwide standards means making super lightweight cars is not easy. This is the reason the Lotus Elise/Exige haven't been sold in the USA for a while. Look at the weight difference between a Euro and USA spec 4C. The Ford GT is HUGE. I'm not surprised it weighs a reasonable amount. A Jaguar XJ220 was a similar weight and had nowhere near as much techAlso per the article..."the most advanced active suspension system in the segment"... that isn't the case surely as the multimatic dampers aren't active from everything I've read?

How do the 675LT, the 488 and the Ford GT sound on the ears with their turbo's etc ?
I think the GT looks the best, but can the sound match it? From what I have heard so far, no. And I'm not complaining about it not being a V8 either. Ferrari and Mclaren have those and they sound pretty poor also. We all know why Ford did it, and I am sure it's going to be a good car, but in a parallel universe it will have a small high revving V12 engine to really ramp up the lust factor.
Sadly, aural sex is getting less and less important to big car manufacturers, which is a shame. So we get facts and figures, but not sonic perfection.
Perhaps Ford could have done the LeMans V6 and the gentleman driver V12 version? It's not as if they could not have sold both and made a profit. Perhaps 500 Le Mans versions and then 5000 V12 versions.
I know Ford don't do too many V12's. However all they would need is a very good V6 as a starting point.
And it would have poked Ferrari in the eye.
