Both spring and damper rates are apparently variable, along with ride-height.

I wouldn't call it a true "active suspension" in that it doesn't seem to automatically adjust itself as loads change to keep the car level and the tyres in contact with the road, but it's a fairly advanced setup in terms of driver configurability (if that's a word).
this was the last article i read about the suspension on the GT

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives/...

Damper rates are variable but that seems to be simply an electronic system of adjustment rather than manually lifting the car up to change the settings by clicks. It's a very good system especially with the dual springs which I'm not sure why a lot more sports car manufacturers aren't using (I think the 4.0RS had that on the rear and not just a helper + main as on a few other GT Porsches) but none of which suggests it's actively adjusting as compared to simply changing to various preset configurations when the driver wants it to.

Beyond some avoidance of speculators I find all this "we don't want to sell you our car" nonsense to be deeply silly.
Agreed. It doesn't help that Ford are forcing their GT "customers" to constantly advertise it on their social networks.

"fully active dynamic systems"

Marketing emptyness.

If it's dynamic it's moving, therefore is also active. And it's either moving/active/dynamic of it's not, so if it is, it's fully.

Brilliant, so in that context it doesn't say anything more than the moving bits move.

Great car. But watching faces drop when you tell your posh party guests you "drive a Ford" will kill the buzz in a nanosecond.
Funnily enough I thought the complete opposite. It would be great, if asked what you drive to honestly say 'oh just a ford' and cut short the usual painful conversations about how fast it goes or what's the point if you answer Lambo/Ferrari/Porsche.

Anyone know how much they cost versus the competing cars? I mean, its one thing if they all cost similar money, but quite another if the "winner" costs a lot more. That means you're not really comparing like for like.
$520,000 spec'd up according to Shmee150 who mentioned a few days ago that he'd be paying a 50% deposit 9 months or so before delivery,

Glad some lap times have finally been published as I was waiting to find out which is fastest before deciding which one to buy

I love the idea of this car, but the way ford are handling the marketing is tragic.

It's disappointing heavy to be honest. Fully carbon fibre and a 6 cylinder engine I'd have thought the fully fuelled weight would be below 1350kg nevermind dry.

Also per the article..."the most advanced active suspension system in the segment"... that isn't the case surely as the multimatic dampers aren't active from everything I've read?
Trying to meet worldwide standards means making super lightweight cars is not easy. This is the reason the Lotus Elise/Exige haven't been sold in the USA for a while. Look at the weight difference between a Euro and USA spec 4C. The Ford GT is HUGE. I'm not surprised it weighs a reasonable amount. A Jaguar XJ220 was a similar weight and had nowhere near as much tech

Ford isn't producing many of these and they're selling them only to a questionable select few. Given how the whole GT process has progressed, these numbers are certainly questionable - alternative facts, anyone?

Don't worry, none of our money is good enough for them anyway.

I have no problem with it either, beautiful car. I don't buy cars to impress other people, I buy them to make me happy. (And get from a to b)

In my imagination I'd have one over a 675 or a 488 all day long. Much better looking.

Having seen one of these up close in the flesh I can attest to the fact that they are really rather nice. It's something else to behold when compared to more 'run-of-the-mill' hyper cars. Those buttresses...

Yep, if anyone doesn't think it looks stunning then prepare to eat humble pie when you (hopefully) see one in the flesh.

It really does make everything else look ordinary, and i'm including the current crop of hypercars like the La Ferrari, Pagani etc.

quicker than a 675 round any track is insane, really didn't expect this
I suspect that this will depend on the track.

In a straight line, the 675 should be quite a bit quicker due to having more power and being significantly lighter.

Says a lot about their customer selection criteria if Shmee is on the list.

How do the 675LT, the 488 and the Ford GT sound on the ears with their turbo's etc ?

I think the GT looks the best, but can the sound match it? From what I have heard so far, no. And I'm not complaining about it not being a V8 either. Ferrari and Mclaren have those and they sound pretty poor also. We all know why Ford did it, and I am sure it's going to be a good car, but in a parallel universe it will have a small high revving V12 engine to really ramp up the lust factor.

Sadly, aural sex is getting less and less important to big car manufacturers, which is a shame. So we get facts and figures, but not sonic perfection.

Perhaps Ford could have done the LeMans V6 and the gentleman driver V12 version? It's not as if they could not have sold both and made a profit. Perhaps 500 Le Mans versions and then 5000 V12 versions.

I know Ford don't do too many V12's. However all they would need is a very good V6 as a starting point. scratchchin

And it would have poked Ferrari in the eye.
