It's not built for offroading.

It's designed for potholed East European highways

Oroch wont come here as Renault have the Alaska and Nissan the Navara and they don't want to damage the sales of those vehicles. That came from Dacia UK last year, shame really as the demand would be huge, surprised Renault bothered with the Alaska just a rebadge rather than going 'Lets nail the budget pick up market'

Just disappointed they won't be bringing the Oroch to the UK

That is so cool! I have no need for a pickup or even 4x4 but I love that.

Different vehicle, the Sandero Stepway is basically the budget Captur, the Duster is a bit on its own where it sits.

+1

No real need for it, bar a load of logs every now and again, and maybe handy for camping, but want.

I want one but it would have to be in hotpoint white Monk spec (no extravagant extras). I would then apply a "One life, chill it" sticker to the top windscreen, fit Dixie air horns and a rosewood champagne bar/gun storage area in the boot. Tremendous.

Where I'm based, Dacia customers and Renault customers are both very different people, consequently Dacia and Renault don't take sales off of each other.

Fair enough. I guess I fall at the first hurdle (this is not a Dacia thing) of not understanding why anyone wants a car that looks like a 4x4, but isn't.
Some of the advantages are..
Increased ground clearance - even the 2WD seems to sit a little higher than a conventional estate (handy for snow or rutted tracks)
'Command' driving position - more visibility around corners and more on-road 'presence'
Tyres and suspension may have the ability to soak up more punishment (handy for our potholed roads)
Maybe slightly more utility - (a bit boxier for awkward loads)
That's why Mrs. Pistonbroker likes this sort of thing. We're in a 2WD Tiguan having decided the 4WD on the CRV it replaced was never called for.
For "normal use" the 2WD models are much more practical. They have marginally better acceleration, more boot space, better MPG, "less to go wrong", less to service, and a "normal" 1st gear (the 4x4 models effectively only have a 5 speed box under normal conditions as 1st gear is so low and is not used)

Ours is now just over a year old and now done 25,000 kms. - Top model with all options at under 20k euros including 5 year warranty.

What a brilliant bit of kit, plenty of room, comfortable, economical and does everything I ask of it.

When you think about it, at a quarter of the price of a Range Rover (which I have also owned) it just makes sense.

The money we saved, has bought us a 'concours' TR3a and our Mercedes SL (R129)!

I rest my case your honour!!

Worth every penny. Dacia missed a trick there.
