RE: 25 years of Type R: Spotted special
Discussion
I have an accord tyre r after selling my integrated type r jdm. Lookedfor years for something that was as fun but had room for the kids before I dropped on the accord. It's the longest I've owned a car going on 5 years now.
This thread has caused me to sort out finally for the suspension refresh and a few other bits that need sorting.
I now have a substantial hole in my wallet but it is worth every penny as the car is a brilliant drive.
Subtle family wagon most of the time but can be brilliant fun if required

and the better-looking UK front with the trapezoidal lower air intake and twin lights. That is a much more contemporary design than the very "of the 90s" look of the JDM96 and 98.
With respect, why on earth anyone would want to swap a UK front end for a JDM98 is beyond me, but each to their own.
I simply prefer the look of the JDM98. I actually think the UK twin headlights looks more 90's.With respect, why on earth anyone would want to swap a UK front end for a JDM98 is beyond me, but each to their own.

Refreshing things make a big difference, I fully did the bushes on mine with OEM and amongst other things. Night and day difference This thread has caused me to sort out finally for the suspension refresh and a few other bits that need sorting.

You will love it on track even more, taken mine on brands hatch a few times, overtook cars newer and lighter lol. ATR is definitely an underrated car.
Advan AD08R tyres and RC5 pads will be on order soon. I'm confident in its abilities on track.ATR numbers are dwindling at a silly rate. And I've yet to see any ATR owners opt for brand new OEM dampers?
I've owned several Type R's and Euro R's over the years, they'll always be my favourite cars especially the DC2 ITR.
1996 96spec JDM ITR (owned for 3 years)
2000 JDM Type R-x (owned for 1 year)
1998 98spec JDM ITR owned for 2 years
1999 Civic Type R (EK9 facelift) Owned for 1 year
2000 Accord Euro R (CL1) Owned for 2 years
2001 Torneo Euro R (CL1) Owned for 1 year
All the above were white (the only colour a Type R should be) My firm favourite was the 96spec ITR which was an absolute rocket. I suspect it had internal work done while in japan and it was considerably faster than other 96spec ITRs in my area at the time (and there were loads of them)
I never liked the EP3 or FK2 but love the FD2 and would love to own one some day especially the Mugen RR version however a dream would be to find a mint unabused 98 or 00spec JDM ITR in CW with red recaros and keep it forever...

Yep too many get broken due to rust issues, its a real shame. I know off one who bought new suspension and I tempted myself but only when my current OEM's need replacing I guess.ATR numbers are dwindling at a silly rate. And I've yet to see any ATR owners opt for brand new OEM dampers?

I had a rusty pink Milano DC2 for a few years. Good fun car but as good as it was, it was not some deity that some people think.
A good car but obviously not as focused a proper sports car (not that you can blame it for that).
I think a number would likely need a lot of money spent on them to keep them fit and driving properly. Mine needed the following:
- Suspension refresh
- Rear arches repair
- Respray
It used a bit of oil like they all do and no doubt would need a bit of a mechanical overhaul in due course.

Don't do it.
My commute doubled and I eventually got rid of my EP3 after owning it for 6 years. It was so well sorted, had all the mods I wanted, ran like a dream but petrol costs was killing me.
Although I have an FN2 now as a weekend toy I still regret getting rid of the EP3.
It's not going anywhere now, unfortunately I will put a few more miles on it over the next couple of years than I would have liked, at least I will have fun doing it.
Both of yours look like nice examples, I had an fn2 for a couple of years but never really got on with it, it was a fairly standard example though, I know when modified they can be great.

The list is long but will keep me out of mischief
Yes, most people like Type Rs and I often consider trying one out, but for all of you Honda diehards check this video out.
330 wheel horsepower 11.3 second 1/4 mile K25 block 2007 US-spec Civic. A K24 bottom end made larger with a very modified K20 head. I never knew a Honda motor could make so much all-motor and still be relatively streetable. And it sounds so good!
