Bit of a geeky one here....

I call my black Audi TTS 'Shadowfax'. Fans of Lord of the Rings will know this is the horse that Gandalf rides in the Two Towers. But it gets worse...

.. Sometimes when there's a quiet stretch infront, I say ''Shadowfax, show me the meaning of haste!'' and then slam my foot down.

In the 80s, Volvo drivers were the bikers worst enemy. Bike mag or Superbike or something had a comic strip about 'the planet Ovlov' taking the mickey. So I think it may have been a biking term originally (that was when I first heard of it anyway).

laugh I presume this is because of the 6 stars on the Subaru badge?
Subaru is the Japanese name for the constellation 'The seven sisters'.
Or the Pleiades as we call it. Pedantically speaking, it's an open star cluster, not a constellation. If you've got good eyesight you can see seven stars with the naked eye, six otherwise.

I can't think of a quip.
Well you've obviously not been in the back of one after a late night drinking session to get you where you need to get to.

"Semi automatic" is often used for a fully automatic . ??? confused

Maybe I can explain
Automatic is auto operation of clutch and gears. If one of these is manual then it's semi-auto. Like the Clio Easy.

But why to we use "semi-automatic" for an automated manual, like the Durashift (Fiesta) or Easytronic (Corsa) or the MMT (Yaris, Colt etc)?
confused

Can't remember what bike mag but they used to feature a competition
Called post a Volvo- basically there were 2 house front doors 1 for each team
Then each team had to cut up a Volvo estate with an axe and post it through the door
First to completely post the car through the door won hehe
