Long term lurker on these boards but never posted until now as looking for some advice.
Anyway, I'm really interested in this car and about to pull the trigger. I know most reviews say the price is too close to the Golf R but the discounts I am finding make this almost £7k cheaper than the Golf when options are specified the same. For this price, is there any reason why I should not be choosing this car over the R?

Negatives
- It's too close in price to the R, given it will depreciate quickly
- Why no 18" wheel option? Not everyone wants 19's
First negative is a positive for me - It's too close in price to the R, given it will depreciate quickly
- Why no 18" wheel option? Not everyone wants 19's
If it loses 50% of the list price in the first few years I'm all for it.
As for the wheels - that is a bummer on UK roads. One hope is that the wheels are made well and won't buckle and split on the potholes.
