I just keep a good look out for those hole-in-the-wall machines that have a notice on them with the legend "FREE CASH". smile

23, and I am in the Real Estate industry. I have been fortunate enough to buy a C63 (No finance) only a few months after I started trading.

Looking to upgrade to a supercar next year.
Just out of interest how did you start the real estate buisness ? Bank loan, bank of mum and dad, inheritance
Or you saved up from the day you started work at 17 and amassed enough to buy property at 21 ? Genuinely interested
Not a dig smile

I have been fortunate enough to own a few nice cars in my decade of driving, nothing exotic but cars when i was growing up I wanted to own (Evo's, Exige's etc). My first car was bankrolled by the bank of mum and dad and then from then on its been hard work and lucky choices in my career.

Social media and car forums can really skew perspective, It can seem like everyone owns fast and exotic cars when the reality is very different. The minority of people own AMG's, RS's and Ferrari's and the majority own 'normal' everyday cars to get about.

In terms of how people afford their cars some people lease, some PCP, some buy outright. whichever way you choose to do it i believe most people put the work in to still keep up with the payments or save the money to buy outright. No substitute for hard work, anyone buying there cars with 'family money' and resting on their laurels will soon find themselves at the bottom of the heap again wondering what has happened.

All my opinion and i am sure some will disagree.

The caveat where working hard is concerned is to be self employed. Working hard for someone else simply guarantees you a lifelong tenure in the boiler room shoveling coal. The only people I've seen appear to do well as employees are those who brownnose their way up the ladder and do very little actual work, predictably gravitating towards leased aspirational brand faux off-road vehicles.

My brother does this, he runs an LPG converted Saab 9-3 from 1972. He is also the most content man I know. I hope it's working out the same for you.

This thread is going to descend quickly into the typical boring dickswinging :-(

I've spent the last 16 months working very hard for someone else which I'm turn has I believe made me unwell to the point may not recover from. I am not skilled or clever enough to go alone with what I do and likewise the market is very saturated. IT services are 10 a penny around here.

I am changing jobs next month for something less stressful and less paid. I'll still own a half decent car but I've never wanted a car collection, just one good car. I've only ever lusted after one super/hyper car which is an F40 and I already know I will never have one. So I'll stick to sub £40k cars. Infact never paid more than £8100 for a car, but next one after a house will be an f10 m5, subject to recovering from said issue.

I do alright and have no debts but my outgoings are high due to being the main earner (only earner for years) and having a fairly big house and three kids, so far, the pinnacle of my car spending was during a period of IT contracting around 2007 and I spent 9 grand on a Saab, have spent more on the "family car" over the year but I have had all sorts, from 1.0 Metros as was skint to my current CLS (7 grand).

Never bought a car in my life.

I just break into posh people's houses wearing a gimp mask...the keys are usually always left lying around.

No one likes a show off.

I'm actually a billionaire but choose to run a Volvo as I don't like attracting attention from young, gold digging, airheaded blonde bimbos with dubious morals. It's working a bit too well...

I dabble in some little gardening jobs on the side and this allowed me to run a fleet of two cars (both worth over a grand) for a while (until I finally managed to sell one of them)
