Just quick post to see if anyone on PH knows of this car?
It looks pretty rough, but I see a lot of potential!

Certainly! The second link has a contact number. Going to try and ring it, maybe see if I can view it in a slightly less hostile setting to an auction house!
I'll agree with the estimates comment from The Elephant Man ...
Granted there are a few on there that seem okay, a few high and a few low, but there are a couple where I've though 'way, way out' - both high and low ... very low in one case.
The no reserve ones are where nobody has the foggiest - even the bidders themselves, what some of those old Garellis and Puchs are worth - never seen half of them before. Some of the more recognisable stuff you might have half a chance but some of those bikes are so rare and so obscure you might do well if you could get all the way down there to be there on the day.

If auctioneers posted a proper guide price fewer people might turn up. These lowball figures entice people to go along thinking they might be the only ones there ...
If I was after an old Italian two wheeled project of some sort this WOULD be the place to be on the day make no mistake as they have so many I might get one for next to nothing seeing as they are no reserve.
That Merc 280SLC seems cheap at £1800 - but reading the MOT history makes me think it might be full of rust ...

Opinion on the AROC forum is the Berlina should make about double the estimate, the low figures are to pique people's interest, which seems to be working.
The car itself has appeared at a few Alfa track days and was said to be a bit rough but sound enough. Left a fair bit of oil around the place mind!.
Better suited as a track car than a road car as sourcing the rest of the interior would be tricky.
Would be a lot of fun and a cheap way into 105 ownership, which can't be seen as a bad thing at all.

Would be interested to know what you mean by rough? It its just the body work, then thats not the end of the world as I'd be planning to take a month off work to do it all myself (bar the spraying)... More interested in how it runs! Yeah I thought it would be around the £5-6k range in reality...
Please bear in mind that the comments were made on a forum by experienced Alfa people but just looking at it superficially. You only realy know if a Car is rotten when you start poking it with a sharp stick!.
The impression I am getting from the posts is that it was a bit rough superficially but basically sound. It was obviously driving OK to be flung around Goodwood, but was dropping Oil.
Generally speaking the mechanical bits on these cars are pretty robust and all the parts are available so its usually the least of your worries with 105's.
The bodywork is another issue entirely and there are very few if any repair panels for Berlina's, which means they have to be made from scratch, cost would be more than the car!.
The Roll Cage looks decidedly dodgy, being bolted to the floor with no stiffening and odd bends in the verticals. Certainly not to MSA standard if it was to be used for Hillclimbs or Sprints (assuming it fell into a class where that was mandatory).
I still standby what i said I think on the face of it, it looks a good entry into a 105 ownership at a very cheap price, even if it doubled its estimate. At the estimate its worth it for the bits.

Aside from the possibility of sheddiness or the auction house lowballing it to bring in the punters, it's the smallest engine in a 107 and the tintop is less popular than the convertible.I'm irrationally drawn to the Casalini Sulky; 50cc of raw italian muscle.
