Also a Focus ST owner with keyless, When i had the car mapped by Revo i had them set up their SPS dongle at the same time to combat the obd problem.
This means i can lock the ecu into an antitheft map (car just stalls, wont idle) it locks the obd out as well. So even if the keys were to be stolen without the SPS to put the car out of anti theft mode the car won't go anywhere. Its specific to the car as well so even if said theif had a revo SPS it won't unlock my cars ecu. peace of mind for £99.

I can recall a year or so ago dislock were even giving a £10 discount to rs and st owners for their products as so many cars were stolen within a 2 week period!!
That sounds interesting. I'd like to ditch the diskloc because it's a pain and you just don't want to use it unless the car is being left for some time.

I lock it out every time i use the car, only takes 10 seconds to plug in.Gives you an idea of how convenient ford located the obd for a theif to plug into and pair a new key as wellfurioushttps://youtu.be/NdyzYHZ6w0s

I use an Autolok 2000 disc lock on my '95 E36 coupe. I cant imagine the car security is any use by current standards. The car could probably be broken into with a screwdriver..

I always have a Disclock on my Impreza.

Whilst moving house a few years ago, I left the car parked at my Mum's flat that has an underground car park. It was parked up for a couple of weeks. When I went to pick the car up I discovered that a POS had tried to steal it and had spent a while trying to remove the Disklock, causing extensive damage to it, but to no avail. They did manage to crack the windscreen with the bar on the top and bend the steering wheel in the process, but they didn't get the car itself. I can only put this down to the Disclock.

Although had they got it off they would have found that the battery was as flat as a pancake due to an electrical fault and wouldn't have been able to start it.

The Stoplock Pro has two curvy bits that go round the wheel, and you are supposed to put one each side of a steering wheel spoke, that makes it harder to remove by just cutting the wheel.

The old Stoplock (i.e. the non-Pro) did not have this, and it was possible to make just one cut and slide the thing off. It also had a spring-loaded snap lock which I'm told wink is easier to break than the pro non-sprung one.

I think (my opinion) that the Stoplock Pro is a good one for the money and the ease with which it can be fitted.
I agree the Stoplock Pro is easy to fit. Honestly though even fitted correctly I'd have it off (biggrin) in under 30 seconds and I'm not a professional thief, just a keen amateur. biggrin

Disklock quite a bit longer depending on the situation.

Does anyone think this could take a bit of beating as its hard to cut the wheel given the limited space? Click on it to zoom it its clearer
20-30 seconds to get that off
How??

The point is getting the thieves to steal a car where they don't need to use an angle grinder.

Just resurrecting this as just bought a Stoplock Pro as there have been a lot of thefts recently.

Hoping it helps along with a few other measures, anyone heard of one of these being cut off like Mottorrad was saying ? I have a selection of angle grinders but none of them are what you would call quiet, coupled with the alarm going off I think I may notice as its pretty much under out bedroom window.

Likewise, I've just picked up a Stoplock Pro Elite following an attempted theft over the weekend.

My concern is that it seems loose at the bar end due to the exaggerated curve of the Elite. There's ~2" play between the bar and the wheel.
My gut feel is that this isn't a huge issue since it's the "claw" that needs removing from the wheel during theft and the bar still meets its function of being blocked by windscreen/centre console when attempting to steer(?)

I'd also like to avoid the long-term dents in the leather from a tight lock but appreciate this may just be something I have to get over if I need a tighter fit.

Worth swapping it out for a lesser curved Pro or good to leave as is?

I am sure they can be removed but they will reduce the frequency/probability of your car being nicked.

As popular as steering wheels in my part of East London.

A car on our street has one of those that clamps to the top of the wheel with a bar onto the top of the dash. I remember them from years ago.
The car is bright green chevrolet spark.
I just think why do you bother.

Given the price of the Disklock, they might break in, take the Diskloc & leave the Merc............
