Just how?

To witness this and not roll around on the floor laughing means that you firstly believe in what you are seeing and that there are no tricksters or con artists in the world.

I would assume money is involved here, so people are probably paying to see this.

Is it due to the human brain being hammered with this type of stuff since birth?

I mean, surely no sane person would go there on holiday, for example and pop along to see the local church and declare they witnessed a miracle when they did so.

You would just burst out laughing and then be left dazed and confused when you realised it actually wasn't a comedy show.

This 'joke' has been around since I was a kid, yet I fear showing the audience members that anyone can do this at any time, would do little to change their minds.

How do they get away with it?

Does anyone with strong religious beliefs on here think this is true?

If only someone had told Jeremy Beadle.

In all seriousness though you only have to turn on the news and see the garbage that the gulable seem all too eager to lap up.

Surely this is only a "thing" in places devoid of any other entertainment for most of the year?

That video is bloody hilarious, it's the kind of thing a kid would do at school....primary school! By the time you were 8 years old you'd know it was a massive load of b*llocks.

Admittedly that's a pretty extreme load of nonsense that people believe.

I think when it comes to beliefs that people have, a lot of the time they stem from what you're brought up believing and whether or not you're taught to question what you believe.

I have strong religious views and I used to be Baptist Pastor in the Woolwich area of London. The place is chock full of these African Revivalist and Pentecostal/Charismatic "Churches". The local cinema and the local bingo hall were both turned into tabernacles and cathedrals as well as many retail and industrial units. The local "Apostle" had a best selling book based on the two occasions he claimed to have been to Heaven and interviewed Jesus.

Unfortunately it's just a question of bad men and women taking advantage of poor and gullible people on a huge scale. Some of these men are massively wealthy now and they are not all African, there are lot of Americans too. People like Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, Keneth Copeland, T D Jakes, Pastor Chris all multi-millionaire and many of them pulling similar tricks to the one in the video.

Last year one of them, Pastor Myles Munroe died when his private jet crashed in the Caribbean. At the same time Creflo Dollar asked his flock to buy him a new jet for US$64m.

At the heart of it all is the old Witch Doctor/Shaman thing but now with a cloak of Christianity. It the madness of crowds and all the old tricks, stooges, acting, electrical currents under the carpet, emotional music and rousing speeches with the heady promises of health and prosperity. Ultimately people believe it because they really want it to be true.

I suspect if it was an international law that people couldn't choose a religion or belief system until they were 18 and deemed mentally competent to do so, all religion would probably die out in a few generations.
