My 200sx and even on the way to pick the TVR Cerbera it was being traded in for I couldn't really understand why I was doing it, but I really wanted to scratch the big TVR itch I had.

The 200sx was more fun and far more usable than the TVR, and the TVR ended up being a serious money pit.

The 200sx was the only car l've been almost completely happy with.

Back in 2005 I moved from working at an outdoor centre in rural Surrey to Aberdeen city centre. Sadly this meant that I had nowhere to store my lovely Landrover series 11a compounded by the fact that I would not have been able to afford the petrol to take it the length of the country at that time. I left it with a mate to sell and got £1600 for it making it the only car I have ever made money on (It pains me to think how much would it be worth now).
I looked at getting another one last year but I still live in the city with no off street parking and frankly with two cars in the household already it would get very little use. One day however...

I've replaced it with an Mx-5 Mk2.5 - Executive, fast, lovely car to a unrefined go-kart.
I know it's relative but I love how a Mk2.5 MX-5 can be described as an "unrefined go-kart". Mine's one of the most civilised cars I've owned smile

This was my golden age fleet collection, just 18 months ago.

Two of these three are gone now, the third I suspect might be sold this year... I miss the Noble quite a bit, specially the noise of it but I think it's a case of rose-tinted memories, a large number of the miles I completed some years were to and from the specialist to fix the next stupid problem and the bike, well it just didn't get used. I'm more of a driver and always picked up the car keys before putting my leathers on.

House time now, maybe I'll get something else to fill the garage.

The problem is, there are so many good cars out there and so little time to enjoy all of them.
Agree so much with this.

I love how this has become pictures of departing cars.

  • Sigh* last sight of my '69 E-Type on the 11th anniversary of having bought it. Or so I thought - spotted again 6 months later 100 miles from where I sold it.
Some regrets but it was time to move on...

I guess it's all relative. In comparison to a 5 series that's exactly how it feels. That said having driven an elise 111S a few weeks ago the Mx5 is so much more refined.

I'm a caveman male, I fear I'll keep trying new, uummm, cars. Just don't tell my wife!

Problem is, I've tried / owned loads of cars, in and out of budget and I'm yet to find "that" car.

I do yoyo a lot. Last 6 cars have been; Octavia VRS estate - Boxster S - Warrior Pickup - S2000 - BMW 535d - Mx5. Notice a trend?!!

I still dearly miss my Evo V. It wasn't special but I've never driven anything like it before or since.

At the same time I was saving for a GTR and panicking about how quick valued were increasing, I was also in the middle of a messy house sale.

How does the R33 GTR compare with the Evo as an experience, it's a car (any Skyline GTR) I want to own at some point. I feel the same way about my VI I had as you did your V, nothing else drives like them.

Regretted selling my 2005 Impreza STI Prodrive. No other car has put a smile on my face like it did. I also regret selling my e92 M3, but it was just too expensive to run as a daily.

I remember my godfather selling his Ferrari 360CS about a year after he bought it- massive remorse on my part because I never got a chance to go for a ride & I imagine remorse on his part too judging by the price of them these days...

Sellers remorse, implies that you would buy it back? How many here would put the cash in their pocket back into a car that they likely sold for a reason at that time. Excluding those rarities that have increased in value I suspect many are looking back with rose tinted glasses.

For me it would be my first car - a 1991 Eunos Roadster (MX5), Dark Green with Tan interior. I sold it (6.5k) for more than I paid for it (4k) and a few years on it turned up looking worse off at 1.5k - same owner. I debated for days about buying it back, repairing it, storing it but in the end I decided that regardless it would probably never exceed the expectations I had set in mind.

Better off to leave the past in the past and look for the next new experience.

I think you'll find that's seller's remorse. Buyer's remorse is quite the opposite!

The day I sold my e39 M5 I watched it drive up the road and then went straight to the pub to drown my sorrows, I really didn't want to sell it but I couldn't justify spending the fortune that I was spending running it. I was parked up earlier opposite a petrol station having a bit of lunch and watched a guy filling one up (not surprisingly!), to say I was a bit jealous is putting it mildly!
Very similar situation here, same car - in fact I've never met or heard of anyone not regretting selling an E39 M5! Same story - couldn't justify the running costs in the face of needing property. I was relieved to see it go, rather than being upset, as I had been using it less and less and it became a bit of a white elephant, but every time I see one since then I am a little envious. I had a real love-hate relationship with it at times - it is a magnificent car to drive, just at times challenging to own. I don't think about it when I drive my MX-5, however driving

Only one from my back catalogue of 34 cars - 2003 Audi A8 4.0TDI - yes not very PH but it did everything that I required of it so well and in quiet isolation from the outside world.

I've looked many times at the classifieds for another but none have had anywhere near the spec of the car I had.

Hey-ho.

Loved this car. Needed a bit of work to get it through it['s next MOT which usually wouldn't have been a problem. But my daily driver needed replacing as that had terminal issues. So it had to go frown It now appears to be SORN and hasn't been on the road for the last 3 years. I actually feel quite guilty now for letting it go because it would definitely still be on the road if I had kept it.
