Seems a bit odd to say "no hate" to then subsequently slag off the car and make a stereotyped negative assertion about the type of person who drives it doesn't it ?
No, that is 'dislike'. 'Hate' is a much stronger word, one which I don't have towards...well, anything I suppose.

As for the specifics it's clear you have almost zero experience so why bother with stupid statements like the interior is worse than a D3 ?
My friend has an RRS which I've driven a few times off-road. It was awful. Yes, it got going, Yes, it bottomed out and was like sitting in a washing machine on rough farm tracks biggrin I own a Disco 3 BTW, which has a better and more solid interior which doesn't creak and groan like the two RRS I've been in.

Or that it's not good off road on standard wheels ? Purely for info as you won't care As it doesn't suit the generalisation the cars at LR experience centres run standard wheels and tyres but seem to cope with pretty extreme off road tasks.
They'd do a lot better on smaller alloys instead of the chav originals, and higher profile proper AT tyres wink But that wouldn't suit the image!

Regarding the point made about the Disco Sport owner's thread then of course everybody likes different things. It takes a special kind of small mindedness though to actively seek out a thread in an forum about a car you are clearly not interested to inform a satisfied owner you don't like his car.
As I've said. I'm a Disco 3 owner, why wouldn't I peruse the LR forum? Do you like every car everyone posts about? It would be an odd person who did, don't you think?

Crikey where do I start ?

Have I seen you on in Disco3.co.uk using the same forum ID ? Possibly MBOwners too regarding AMG ? If the latter we may even have been at the same meets.

I'm surprised that you found a standard RRS so much worse off rod than a standard D3 assuming they were of comparable generations. Same underpinnings as well you know.

Interiors - so one was better built than another ? Or did you think that one was actually aesthetically better or more useful then another ? If the latter and assuming comparable generations then that's surprising given the nigh on identical nature of the two.

Ref Grabber tyres - did your Disco come from the factory with these on, none of ours ever did.

Not liking other cars, yep absolutely agree , we all have different tastes. Strikes me as odd and somewhat churlish to actively participate in a thread where a chap is clearly enjoying his car to tell him you don't like it.

Land Rover was old Britain. sttily cobbled together with a that'll do attitude and a belief that no one could possibly want a vehicle made by Johnny Foreigner. Range Rover is new Britain. sttily built, covered in bling and rented to ponces who haven't any actual money so have to get a diesel. biggrin
This is peak PH.

I don't see the point of this

So now they will have the evoque the discovery sport the velar all similar prices in the 30-50k bracket

Seems a bit daft it's like Audi bringing out different versions to f the a4 all competing against themselves

They can't put the velar higher than 50k as the rr sport starts at 59k

I just think it's pointless to have 3 vehicles basically competing in price and market

Surely evoque and discovery sport prices will take a hit or ppl won't be buying them

Some nonsense here. LR / RR have great residuals. Full stop.

My ID is indeed the same on there.

Had to have a different ID for MBowners, but yes, I'm on there, not been to any meets yet though. So you have good taste in some cars biggrin
Re suspension on the RRS - to crashy on the road/off for me. Disco in a different league, as is the standard RR.

It came with Pirellis, but now has a lift and Yokohama Geolandars, which are superb. Quiet, better ride quality and excellent offroad/in snow and mud. Better than the At2 Grabbers? Don't know, it's very close. They're quieter, certainly.

I don't agree. I wasn't rude in any way, and I'm sure you're happy to acknowledge I finished the post with "Glad you like yours though!" smile

I do agree - I looked at the thread and it's an ahole move. Don't like it? Stay out of the thread. Or are you one of those people who would look at a newborn baby and say, "What an ugly little - glad you think your baby is cute, tho" and think that's acceptable?

If that's really how you think it's acceptable to behave, I'd take a photo of your teeth now. You will need something to remember them by for when your unwanted unpleasantness finds the right audience.

easy to mock but it looks just what im after.

dont like the discovery as it has a huge arse and dont need 7 seats. rr sport is too big for us and evoque too small and ds has a ste interior.

so velar looks perfect
Bad news. It's around the same size as a sport but with a lower roof line at the back.

With that all glass roof, does it just get written off if it takes a tumble? I'd imagine that's not cheap!

How many cars wouldn't be written off if they flipped?!

When I had my windscreen replaced the guys who changed it said a fair few pano's get broken in use either from debris or deliberate - they just get replaced like normal glass.

I say what I like, and I like what I say ?

You're right you can post wherever you like just don't be surprised when people call you out for what many would see as an unnecessarily churlish intervention.

Anyway back on topic - The Velar is clearly not for you, nor is the RRS , nor even was the D3 in the form it left the factory.

I'm really hopeful LR do bring an updated Defender and inject a bit more of a utilitarian approach into the Range. I am perfectly comfortable that such a vehicle can co-exist with current and proposed new models which are moving into new and profitable niches.

Shame they are using the Velar name, most people will never know(or care) why its called that, and thats a bit of a shame.

this is a Velar.

What is the history behind it?
When they ran the original RR Prototypes, they used this brandname so that people wouldn't know they were Rover/Land Rover products.

Normally, prototype cars are crashed/scrapped but in this case some of the Velar badged cars were sold to dealers/engineers kept them and they ended-up being resold - most of those cars still exist (and have notable differences to production cars - in some cases they're basically hand-made cars!!)

http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HTML/Velar.htm

p.s. 7 prototypes and 28 pre-production line-built cars according to various sources - most of which still exist.
