RE: Range Rover Velar teased

I'd also agree about comments on the diesel line-up, really why? The rest of the car is bang up to date but a prominently diesel engine line-up?? Are manufacturers simply putting fingers in ears and going La La La at the huge backlash against diesel? They need to get a hybrid version out ASAP or hope that their customers are too stupid to realise that diesel is dead.
These were designed and approved 4-5 years ago, when diesel was god. How do you expect a car manufacturer to change a diesel line-up to petrol / hybrid, given the amount of development and testing that goes into each model in each market? They ( the manufacturers) will be reacting to the death of diesel) but it will take a while to wash through, depending on where they are in product lifecycles.

It's going to sell in the US, remember...? Engine range over there...
http://www.landroverusa.com/vehicles/range-rover-v...
247bhp 2.0 turbo petrol
180bhp 2.0 turbodiesel
380bhp 3.0 v6 supercharged petrol
Meanwhile, here, we get exactly the same petrols, plus two more diesels (240bhp 2.0, 300bhp 3.0v6)

Funnily enough one parked next to me in Coventry Costco this afternoon - first I'd seen.
I think it's better-looking in the flesh, and very modern / up-to-date, especially inside. High-tech look aside, it doesn't look as expensively-finished as a RRSS, and it's definitely smaller - can see it being a very fashionable car initially then as it depreciates falling into the hands of those who just want to look good...

...a bit like the F-Pace.
I wonder if there might be a reason for that similarity... <scratches head> No, pure coincidence, I'm sure...Same engines
Much of the same suspension.
Main difference appears to be the interior to justify the price tag.
(and allegedly a bit better off roading ability but frankly few buyers of these will care)
