Granted, there are actually only 6 gauges but I've always liked the Lexus is200 dial setup, never seen anything else mimic it either:

I wonder if the turbocharged Japanese version had even more dials?

Are they Type 85 Audi coupe gauges?

Yes, out of an old Audi, they are VDO's. A bit of a trim of the bezel and it fits a DIN-E hole.

I've had these for years and once upon a time they were cheap and plentiful on e-bay but recently they have got rarer and more expensive.

Very, very nice though and work perfectly.

Not a shot at victory here but worth a mention - good old Group B road going versions.

Citroen BX 4TC

Delta S4

And how about this? I know it's not a production car, but worth a mention. Twin engined VW Scirocco factory prototype. 2 x every gauge to monitor both engines. Note the twin rev counters and single digital speedo. I'm counting 17 guages (including the digi speedo) but not the odometer.

I cannot find any information about what each one is but the Renault 5 Turbo 1 seems to have had 10 gauges, the Turbo 2 had rather less.

I'm sure a handful were turbocharged and may have had one or two more gauges fitted but I haven't found a pic yet.
I see no gauges wink
She has a friend who has a turbo http://www.forocoches.com/foro/showthread.php?t=17...

Can't see anymore gauges, but she knows how to twiddle a knob.

In addition to my post above with only a lowly three additional retrofitted gauges, I bring you my old Mini;

Water temp
Fuel level
Oil pressure
Vacuum
Amps
Volts
Triumph tacho
Triumph speedo
Truimph multi segment display for ignition lights etc
Turn signal repeaters from a Bedford CF van !

That pic was taken in March 2000, the day and just before it was loaded onto a flatbed and sent to the scrapper. A decision I deeply deeply regret.

Triumph Dolomite Sprint - 8 Dial

I used to rip these dashboards out of scrapped Dolomite Sprints and rewire them into Mini's. Did about 10 or 12 of them back in the day. The central dial was a multi light panel which was a bugger to remember what wire was what but after the 3rd one I remembered them all moving forward.

Wish Id kept the dials I had - it was the one thing I used to love pulling out of old cars about to be crushed (Park Royal Scrappy was massive and many a Sat spent treasure hunting).....

Disqualified! - A factory standard Sprint has five instruments, one clock, and the Triumph "all systems go" AKA "piechart" warning light cluster. The one shown above has all of those, with a non factory oil pressure gauge fitted where the eyeball air vent should be.

A Sprint has a voltmeter but no oil pressure gauge. "Because Castrol more reliable than Lucas".

Standard Sprint below (clock out of shot):-

Most Lancia Beta Coupes and HPEs have nine dials (if you include the clock). The povvo spec 1300 Coupes make do with seven.

In the cluster of three warning lights in the speedometer, what is the central one for? The driver's foot is caught under the throttle pedal? Warning! Bandits have slid a trolley jack under the car?

Yes, "Trolley Jack Pirate Attack", I think.

I used to know the allegedly sensible answer to that question but have now forgotten it. The light may be a warning that the transmission is about to explode. I am currently waiting for my latest Beta to arrive from a place where it is being prepped for its first MoT since it went to the Isle of Man in the 80s. I will check in its handbook when it gets here. My one has the pre-facelift instrument panel (shown in the top picture in my previous post). BTW, the dials in Beta Berlinas (saloons) are of a different design to those in the Coupes and HPEs.

Not sure how many the Jaguar XJ220 has in total, but I've always loved the four in the door.

What do they all read in the xj220 ?

Do modern cars have as many gauges or is it all mainly the 4 ?
