Seems a hell of a lot of money for a replica! And one that looks like that. I know proper ones are into astronomical territory now, but surely he's got no chance? eek

At least it has a YB fitted and not a 1.6 Pinto.

Still a bit pricey ,half the price is nearer to reality.

What a pile of S:consored:T. IMHO £1290 would be nearer the mark for a Replica.

Ha, glad it's not just me that had to do a double take at the price then. I was wondering if the real ones had really gone that nuts that someone might get that kind of money for a poor replica.

Sounds like he's probably trying to get back his outlay.

I was ready to slate it, but how much does it cost to source a rust-free shell, build an engine like that, and dig out all the appropriate bits to make a rep? £5k on the bodywork and a remap you'd have a bit of a monster.

Looks like a pile of crap.
Having owned many genuine Cossies that looks to me like something you'd find up the back of a scrap yard built up by someone with the mechanical skills of a yts trainee mechanic.

Price up the bits, does seem so mad then, if the engine is any good it is worth good money, the cosworth specific spares are also, not sure what a Sierra shell is worth, but there aren't many left never mind 2wd ones.

Someone with some time and effort could build a very passable replica with that lot.

Not sure it's 13 grands worth, but scrap it isn't and it isn't worth pennies, ten grand easily.

1.6 molested Sierra with a dodgy body kit?

£13k ?

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Edit: Just reread the ad, even with the cosworth running gear its still pie in the sky pricing.

Ten grand? Can't see it. I'd say maybe half of what he's asking myself. I think that's reasonable.

It would break for over £10k so its not a million miles away from the mark, he's left himself haggling room.

Obviously some folk dont understand Cosworth Tax eek

I'd love that!

Needs to be kept as a rough 1.6 though. smile

It might break for over £10k but if that's the case, someone's still got to break it and make a margin on the parts and labour.

I agree it's not worth hundreds, but that to me seems like the finished price for a replica, not in its current state. I think about £6k might be right.

Nah, sticks out too much nowadays, when did you last see a Sierra that wasnt a Cosworth, never mind a two door.

164 watching.

Here is a genuine new shell,

http://rallycarsforsale.net/ads/ford-sierra-rs-cos...

7500 euros, so seven ish grand ?

If that isnt rotten as he says it isnt, must be worth something, not many left and fixing up a ropey one would soon get spendy.

Very local to me by the looks of it but I can't recall ever seeing the FRS about.

It does seem a bit rich but, as other have said, it's got some nice bits on it and it's a small proportion of what an actual 3-dr Cosworth would fetch.

I like the sleeper idea!

Reminds me of a v rough looking 4 dr hatch covered in filler that ran at Knockhill in the mid 90's, it was fun to watch with something like 350bhp and driven sideways at every corner!

That's a Cosworth shell though. Not really comparable. This thing will always be a replica, no matter what.
