Hi there

It looks like I'm going to order an A6 Avant to cope with family duties at weekend when 5 of us are in the car but I'm treating myself to a few extras and some nice paint.

I'm struggling to find much info on the colours available in the Audi Exclusive range. I know they can basically make any colour but I'm trying to find what 'standard' Exclusive colours are available. The likes of Nardo Grey, Merlin purple etc.

I like Polar Blue Metallic and Venetian Purple but do you guys have anything else to suggest?

I'm not doing white, silver, grey, red or black. And I don't wanna go too crazy with orange, yellow or green.

There's a lovely RS6 in Polar Blue in Google images and I'm thinking of going for that unless anyone can suggest anything else that's nice? It'll be a Black Edition Avant so has the gunmetal 20s on it.

Thanks!

What did the dealer say when you asked them?

Looking at the configurator Classic Red would be my choice but if the Venetian Purple is available that would look even more awesome! The Polar blue is not worth the extra money imho but your dough etc etc

Completely agree polar blue would just look like a standard colour, I would look st Venetian purple , merlin purple or amethyst grey

Thanks for the suggestions.

The dealer has a selection to view but with work and family commitments, I can't get the time to get up to see them. Most of the haggling on price has been done in emails and I'm being guided by the online configurator.

I spotted the morning dew. It's technically green but has anyone seen it in real life? Doesn't look that green in pics!

Haven't spotted the amethyst grey so I'll have a look for it.

Merlin or Venetian purple is hard to beat. I always loved BMWs in Techno Violet, just not sure what an A6 would look like. Most pics are of RS6s which are wide enough to suit a more out there paint colour.

I'm still liking Polar Blue but it's maybe not that special.

A guy who I used to work with had a TT in the Black Cherry Pearl exclusive colour. It looked fantastic in the sunlight and very discreet in flat light.

Is that Voodoo Blue from the Porsche range of colours?

My order has been placed as Merlin Purple but it can be changed. I am just worried the Purple is too dark.

I see pictures of an RS6 (reg 666 RS) which looks like a mulberry colour. Then I compare it to the RS6 for sale in the classifieds (on sale with Redline I think) and it looks more blue. Does anyone know if they are definitely both the same colour?

Here's a selection:

I love the colour and am considering getting therapy in an attempt to get over my decision to turn down a Voodoo 911 GTS.

We had a TT in Velvet Purple that was stunning as it looked different in different lights.

It was a pig to keep clean though!

You really have to go to the dealers. There is no option, really.

First - they have a 3 inch thick swatch book of colours. Most don't even have names from what I saw, just reference nos - of course there are the more "popular" ones that you will find on the web.

Second - the pictures on the screen will either a) not look right on your monitor vs daylight and b) have probably been doctored somewhere along the line to show off the car. Part of what you notice from the swatches is just how different the flakes are and the colour change with angle/light.

If you really cant get down, they need to post you this swatch book. Probably would want it back though.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that some colours like Merlin Purple and Voodoo Blue only really look 'right' on something like an RS. On a bread-and-butter A6 they can look rather out of place.

(Don't expect to get a penny more at trade-in time for an exclusive colour. Just buy it because you really love the colour!)

On the whole I would agree but I think in this case a Black Edition with gunmetal wheels will definitely look right, imho it will look ace. A cooking spec SE or something would be a different matter though!

Thanks for those replies.

I have seen a 911 in Voodoo and it looked immense. It must have been hard to pass on that one!

I looked at velvet and venetian purple too but merlin is more of a tried and tested colour. The RS6 in all the google images mainly made up my mind.

The bad thing about looking at all this pics online is that it's hard to tell what the actual colour is and yes, most seem to be doctored or filtered pictures making them look even better.

Fair point about the mad colours suiting an RS6, that's why I 'm going with something a bit more subtle but still different enough to stand out a bit. I am hoping when it comes to selling it, I might get more interest as I've added a sunroof and the Super Sports seats. The fact it is a Black Edition coming with the 20s will help the colour.

I've ordered the Super Sports seats in black. Should I go with the lunar silver? It will be used as a family car for the weekend with a 3.5 year old, a 1.5 year old and a new born in it so maybe the black seats will hide a bit more of the dirt they seem to bring along with them.

Any other options I should look at? I considered the Advanced Key but not worth the money in my opinion.
