Is it coincidence that all of the worst drivers who utilise UK roads either love Vauxhall's or drive vans?

I honestly don't know if it's just me or not, but ever since I've been driving. It seems that it's always Insignia's, Astra's or any old van that want to give my exhaust a close inspection. And it really is starting to bug me, not least of all because I'll have completed another year of clean driving in a few weeks and am adamant to defend my no claims.

Does anyone else find the owners of these vehicles tend to drive annoyingly as if they're trying to trigger a reaction? Or is it just me?

Not sure, but all I've got to add is that I've never seen a Zafira driven well.

On the flip side, I rarely see a badly driven Volvo.

Vauxhalls are often the "bottom rung" of the company car option, so they're massively popular and get driven by a diverse range of people, private owners included of course. That said, my job involves driving and I'd largely agree with you. 1.2 Corsa's that won't get out of the way and drive with the accelerator embedded in the carpet, Astra's that refuse to leave the fast lane and Insignia's which are generally driven faster than anything else on the motorway. What's that coming steaming up behind me? Better move over at the earliest opportunity, probably someone important in some fast German metal. Nope, it's another Eco spec Insignia being driven flat-out.

It's easy to generalise but there does seem to be some substance to what you're saying!

Around here, 99.99% of Zafira's are owned by middle eastern families that have 3 people per seat inside and look like it's on a journey to the scrappy. I give them a wide berth.

I await a SJW to tell me off for this comment.

I have a Vauxhall van.

It has a PH sticker on the back, but that's just so you can identify me whilst I drive in the manner you should expect of someone who drives a Vauxhall van.

I drive a variety of different cars and am often in a different make and model everyday, including Volvos.

So make and model is not dependant on what tosser drives it. laugh

2nd that. If a driver is going to do something stupid on the m-way chances are they'll be in a Zafira.

I believe it was Clarkson, in a (very) old episode of Top Gear. The line was something like:

"As everyone knows, the fastest thing on the road is an Astra van driven by a 19 year old plumber."

Top Gear many years ago did a feature on the Lotus Esprit against an Astramax van "the fastest car in the world....when driven by a 17 year-old plumber..."
Clarkson and Wilman mucking around as usual smile

It could be that the percentage of muppets on the road is fixed (irrespective of make/model) at say.... 30%.

If there are more Vauxhalls on the road than other makes - then your likelihood of coming across one of the Vauxhall-driving 30% of muppetdom will be greater than the same fraction of said muppets in a Porsche or less common make for example.

(Playing devil's advocate here.)

I disagree, oversided, big engined SUV/4×4s seem to be the new motorway wkermobile.

Fair point, but Vauxhall drivers I've noticed usually seem to be terrible drivers over the 3 consistent years I've been driving haha.

I'm one who usually says its the driver, not the car. But Vauxhall drivers and can drivers are making me sway
