Cheers, but that is the previous gen, its a 219, not the later 218, though it is the facelift, I think I may part with it as I need an AMG 55 engine in my life, sometimes 388 bhp just doesnt cut it and you need 493 biggrin

Most old, German barges make the driver look like an East European hand car wash proprietor and even early L322 Range Rovers are going council. It's often a phase cars go through when the became too expensive for the second owner, then they become ropey old heaps. A few will manage to side step this sequence and come out the other side with their dignity intact. For me, it when they stop being taken care of properly that all cars go feral.

Yet I'm not sure if the AMG models are classy as such?

I have a CLS63 and admittedly it's no where near as noisy as the C63 but it is loud and has four massive tailpipes. Not sure if that makes it a little lairy.

My other half does have an SL350 which I think looks classy as a convertible as it's a very nice looking car and isn't the shouty 55. Maybe I'm biased.

Nice to hear and read of the nice compliments being said of the Jaguar XJ as I bought one last year.

I didn't buy it with "class" in mind however, just simply looking for a nice looking, large type of car with a comfortable drive.
And that's exactly what it delivers, really very pleased with it. It's the 3.0 V6 petrol which has enough power for what it's used for and it surprisingly seems to be well liked by friends and other road users.

And yes they are 5 seats but they don't fold down.

Caterham? Seriously, basically impossible to chav up. Big wheels don't really fit...
Oh, I don't know...they had a pretty good stab at it from the factory with these questionable items;

The one I drove tramlined like a good 'un on those, and they just look absolutely awful in my opinion. Prefer them, in fact nearly all cars, on a smaller wheel with a chunkier sidewall.

I think a LWB A8 ( basic wheel spec please) carries a good degree of presence, and arguably class.

Black or dark blue please.

I'm not so sure about the newer ones though.
No Audi made in the last 15 carries any form of class, let us just stop that right there.
Silly comment, and uniquely a British thing. First it was BMW, now it's the tail end of Audi's phase, whilst Mercedes are very much becoming the defacto choice of the cock/chav brigade.

Of course there's s difference between something that has a degree of class and something that ouses class.

I'd agree that the rest of the range is very anodyne; the new A8 just looks like a stretched A4, and the interior in say grey or beige is pretty sickly (although fine in black).

But, the early models (Ronin?) do have an elegance about them in LWB form.

I like them, but I don't think those wheels will age well. In ten years, five spoke, wide spoke alloys will look very of their time. Just a prediction!

Early SL55s with these wheels can look nicely understated IMHO.

If we can self nominate - my 5.0 XKR Coupe is beautiful. Dark blue, ivory coloured interior, not a classic yet, but definitely classy.

I can't tell whether people mean cars which conform to a certain understated aesthetic or cars which are owned by a certain social class. If the latter, sorry chaps, you can't really tell.
It's never been the same since the proles started getting their hands on money. Now you apparently have to drive something 15 years old and smelling of wee to be classy.

Another bonkers thread.

Yes, a CLA with a bodykit is definitely the cocks car of choice at the moment.
