I've seen people say Skoda Yeti in a dark colour at least more than once. I picked it due to it's complete lack of perceived image and fit for purpose. We've have since found that everybody we know loves it. The only thing I'd change would be the black wheels and privacy glass, but there wasn't a choice.

I'm due to collect my yeti montecarlo in quartz grey in a week or two biggrin. Can't say image / class played a part at all in my choice either and maybe that's the point. It's not a car styled or marketed to appeal to a particular sort of buyer.

It's almost utilitarian and usually overlooked by anyone looking to portray any sort of image. I wouldn't call it classy myself but it's interesting that it's being discussed on this thread.

I always come into these things late!
But classy. In the little I have read I've seen some absurd suggestions, mostly German. The only Audi I can think that I would call classy would be the original 5 cylinder Coupe and I haven't seen one of those in years.
But, as a suggestion, any Alfa 156 with the V6 engine, be it 2.5 or 3.2. Those are class!
Although mine breaks down an awful lot which I suppose isn't ultimately that classy....

I'm including the previous two generations in that; I've never seen a Skoda Superb taxi. I suppose it depends where you live. Here it's all Prius' (Prii?) and E-Classes.
Oxford?

And FYI it's 'Priuses'

Great to see so much love for the X300/X308. I got my first one last week. Here's mine (okay, maybe not the most modest colour, but 16s with high profile rubber help). The blue Clio 172 Cup in the BG is also mine. However, for reasons unknown, nobody has suggested a tarted up Clio in this thread yet 😂 They're very chalk and cheese. In one I get called sir, in the other it's mate or chap.

As an aside, I think the E46 touring in non-sport trim is a classy thing. Good looking, respectable, clean lines and a bit of quality without pretence. Ditto any old coupe Merc, preferably sans B pillars.

The whole Skoda Yeti thing - come on. Give it a rest. Might be unassuming, but really no class - I know that's why people suggest it but when the Golf had a classless image during the 1980's you could park one in Chelsea and it would fit right in. It would also look fine in a rough part of town. That's what I meant when I started this thread.

The Skoda Yeti just makes you look like a provincial dogging enthusiast who spends most of their time working out ways to get their car to run on used chip fat. It's not classy and it never will be.

agree that look at the cars you see parked at Queenswood , a 993 911 would fit right in, so would a Discovery , including the new one as it just means you are a family man or woman

When I put these images together I suddenly realised that I consider beige wafty barges to be classy. I guess that says more about me than anything else. Essentially though, judging from the others posts - it's something that would look okay splattered in mud and grime, large enough to take skiis and boxes to the house in France, non-blingy wheels and clear windows right?

This seems like the classiest new car out there right now:

Agree with the Volvo. Quite the looker, probably huge but it's certainly a current car that fits the bill.

Think the OP was asking about cars currently in production that are 'classy'. After 24 pages of comments and it's a small list, and yet there's a huge list of classic cars that are classy. I totally agree - and a poster (think it was Max) attempting to distill what makes a car classy - some great points.

There are so many cars today that are naff because they are over-styled, in many cases a good design covered up by so much unnecessary appendages to appeal to their target audience.

I hear a lot of loud engines around here, if it's a ferrari or Lambo (whilst great cars) I always (maybe incorrectly?) assume that the owner, if male, is making up for a lack of size in certain areas hence buying a car that shouts. To me, a classic 328 or 308 has buckets more style and class than whatever the latest ugly bespoilered thing is churned out of Modena.

I've lost the point of my ramble other than to say that it's much harder to find classy cars today - I wonder why?

I have to agree with the XK, standard (pre-facelift, smoother lines) and preferably the tin top (not least because I'm, trying, to buy one). It has a simple elegance of line and thus that touch of class that the more modern Jaguars (and modern cars in general to be honest) simply don't have, barring the XJ. I still, largely, like them (though if they're going to bung the same shape of brake light in the XE as the F-Type then bloody well mirror the shape of it in the cluster it just jars every time I see it) but the more modern design language of sharp angles and lines in the body panels of practically every modern car gives off a more aggressive vibe that simply doesn't equate with that classy feeling that we get from the older cars.

Aggression does not equal class, for the want of a better way of putting it it's boorish and unbecoming behaviour that simply lowers the tone and muddles it with the plebs biggrin .

Thanks. It is becoming quite clear there are basically two main ways that people are looking at this:

1. Those of us who appear to define "classy", in the main, as I've described it.

2. Those of us who appear to be focusing more on the aesthetics of a car.

It is also striking to me that those who appear to adhere to #2 include those that have responded with crassness, or are the one line specialists who've suggested they can't be bothered to read, or are incapable of meaningfully responding to, thoughtful posts, which others, with perhaps more class, have appreciated.
