The Cactus is pretty innocuous, affordable runabout and seemly bought by none spitters who have their clothing labels on the inside of their clothes.

According to wiki the Shadow was roughly 5in longer/taller and 2in wider.
And taller. While all being box-like in shape. 40 years on the Phantom is only 3 and a bit inches wider than an XJ.

And how does it contrast to the average car on the road back then?

Interesting choice of image to compare them there DA, it's actually a photoshopped pic with the restored Radford Cooper S shopped into the original '67 shot of the Rolls, which was taken in Lennon's driveway in Weybridge right after his chauffeur had collected it from Fallon's workshop. Back in '67 Harrison's Radford had Cosmic alloys, bespoke bumpers and raised digit number plates, the restored psychedelic paintwork doesn't quite match the original '67 version in places either!

I've always thought of the maserati quattroporte as being very classy , they're coming in at 10k these days but look a lot more money than that

Not this one though

You need at least 15k for one that isn't a total shed, and 17k or so if you want one with the proper auto gearbox that doesn't break all the time. 10K is fantasy, the cheapest I've seen at 13k

Indeed, Marsh Phantom doesn't really have a clue about cars though.....

But that's the driver. We are talking about the car.
But if the main appeal of such a car is to young orange women with drawn on eyebrows, then that car can never be 'classy' by association.

Currently showing a suspension fault warning light of some kind, but as the ad says they all do that... apparently.

Got me thinking anyway.

Yeah, go for it, massively expensive Italian luxury car, suspension fault warning light on, its probably just a duff sensor you can buy on eBay for 99p...

On Autotrader they seem to start at £14k, so if whatever it is can be resolved for £3k it might be value...?

[Personally I wouldn't though]

You will have a couple of days' use out of it before the MoT runs out.

Au contraire, I'd say the people that don't think the Phantom is massive, and posting pics of non-Shadow Rollers are the ones that don't know about cars.

To add some balance to the discussion.

A small plastic cow and a calendar. wink

The plastic cow is to teach you about perspective and the calendar is to help you understand the difference between 1965 and 1995. biggrin

O/T again but that lovely little Wood & Pickett Mk2 Cooper S used to belong to Paul McCartney's guitar technician, he also worked with Humble Pie and used to give Steve Marriot lifts in it... what tales it could tell... wink

These things seem quite classy also. No shoutiness, no show, just a boggo runabout and I get the impression that they aren't going to be owned by punters who have sex ponds or bars in their homes.

The council just turned down my planning permission application for a sex pond and, after my lovely supporting statement, have refused to talk to me again...
