The new one is fine on the motorway. More comfortable and much less buzzy.
But not torquey thats my main point
I think your username might give your preferences away.

There are DOZENS of cars out there with torque-oriented power outputs. There are very few cars out there now that have revvy engines.

Please don't let your personal preference drive the removal of choice* from those of us who enjoy n/a engines...

* Emissions regs are already doing a good enough job of that! frown

I had the 1.5 version of the Swift and it was the most fun car to drive ! Not quite as quick as the Sport but not too far off either. Roadholding and general handling matched up to the Mini (and nobody mentions that the Mini's boot is smaller) and in the snow it was superb. Would I have another ? You bet !

True but the Civic lacks the creature comforts like climate, keyless entry, xenons, dab etc etc. There is no doubt the Civic is the better car for a driver but the Swift gives the same feeling of enjoyment (Having to wring the neck out of the engine) while being a lot more modern. I think that's what he was trying to point out.
Now I'm pretty certain the one I drove had AirCon and I have a canny feeling the later type R came with full 'Climate' if you wanted it. Keyless Entry I still see no need what so ever for and HID's (having had them on my last car) cause more annoyance for other drivers and not vast benefit than conventional projectors with decent bulbs..

I'm not particularly a Civic fan (bar the engine) but I honestly don't see anything offered in the Swift that would be a deal breaker in the Civic, as a daily driver..
And I'm pretty sure it was air con, not climate, as evinced by the 'A/C on the button? I may, of course, be wrong.
Regarding HIDS, symbols fitted some (a very, very good set) to her modified Fabia vRS mk1.
Yes, they were better than the standard lights, but nowhere near as good as the factory demons on my Audi. My point?. The Audi has reflectors to take advantage of the xenons, as opposed to standard headlights with an HID bulb thrown in, and the reason other road users might get annoyed with HID setups is they lack self-levelling plus you get that bright bloom around the headlight.
Neither HID / xenon headlights nor keyless entry would matter to me either, I'd be buying the car in because of it, rather than in spite of it to be honest. I've had much faster cats than a Type R but they remain something I'd like to own, partly because of their lack of turbocharged emission-friendly power plants.

Hi Mat, so agree with your views on the SS. Have tracked both old and new all over the UK and Europe with only a fews mods, great honest fun to drive car.
Superchips do a usefull map for said car, modest hike in power and torque with improved fuel consumption.

Well it would seem a lot of hate for the swift.

I own one I'm a 36 yr old male who's had Audi , mercs etc.

I purchased mine brand new ( cue people saying should have got a used etc ford st etc).

I love it, great to drive plenty fast enough etc, and no one seems to mention the amount of kit as standard. Love the amount of people who have never owned one chipping in too, lol.

I can't help but feel it's gonna be more reliable than a small turbo lump.

Anyway I like it just my 2p worth.
