Not sure if it's already been posted but I saw something from Racelogic on Fb earlier saying they believe the footage to be genuine.

It went something along the lines that they know the distance between the bridge and gantry, through previous Vbox customer data and also backed up by Google Earth or something... They then checked the footage frame by frame and worked out the distance as nigh on identical to the known figures. I think it was something like a metre different.

My only thought is that Lamborghini could have planned this would be a popular spot for analysis so have only sped the video up in certain places?
If the performante distance vs speed lines up, how does one explain the SV then as it's showing much faster speeds and more or less equal time over the bridge to gantry?

Having viewed Misha's analysis, I would have to agree. The Performante's lap time appears to be bogus, which is shame.

Lol.

Loads of YouTube conspiracy videos out there. The Moon landings were filmed in Nevada, and 9/11 was a false-flag op run by the Israelis wink

The Huracan delivered a very smooth, clean lap -- perhaps the best of all time -- with the active-aero glueing it round the corners. No fighting the steering wheel, like the other cars with less corner-grip driving
It's a tricky one to call this. On one hand you've got someone who has produced a detailed video highlighting possible discrepancies, on the other you've got someone who has mastered the use of emojis.
It's a tricky one to call this. On one hand, you've got Lamborghini confirming it broke the Nurb production-car record, seconded by Pirelli, triple-confirmed by Racelogic (makers of the highly-accurate, professional VBOX timer), and fourth-supported by Chris Harris from Top Gear (a highly-respected racing driver). On the other, you've got someone who is desperately clinging on to some amateur YouTube conspiracy nuts who think selective one-off speed traps and freeze-framed shadows on grassy knolls are credible analysis.

And here's another emoji for yer rofl

In fairness, a Nürburgring laptime isn't part of the legal homolagation, so it's not really the same. As I said before, everyone iis creative with the truth about 'Ring times, so it's not a huge shock, but I don't agree with the way they've done it.

he is open to them faking the film to make it fit the time, "Far more likely, Lamborghini set the time and had some film issues they needed to make fit with the time."

and that's the point a some people are suspicious of the video incl Robb Holland, Jalopniks ring master, thinks its fishy

I think you'll find far more folks have been laughing at you than they have at me Yipper.

And as for desperately clinging on you obviously failed to read my second to last post;

Which is well within your rights and I too would like to think it is all above board.

It doesn't stop me taking on what other opinions are though and asking the question myself, I'd rather that than merely dismiss everything else with a flippant comment about tampons.

It's good to see the emoji dig didn't get to you at all though Yipper. I mean when was that, three or so days ago? Have you been holding onto that all weekend Yipper? You've obviously spent more time thinking about it than anyone else has!

Just got a call from humble pie. It asked what time you will be eating it.

Gigglebug and a few others put way too much faith in a bunch of amateur YouTube attention-seekers. There is a valuable lesson there for you and many others. Hope you grasp and learn from it.

Epic display of contained utter performance...

The times keep tumbling and I wonder how long it will be before we get below 6m30s and then start to approach Bellof's 6m11s record.....in a road car!

I will take the word of Lamborghini, Pirelli and Race Logic.
This. Not a chance VW would allow Lamborghini to do something as stupid as speed up a video to fake a lap time under their name.

Here's a turn of events. Racelogic have now done the same analysis that they did on the lap video from the Huracan P, on the 918 and Aventador SV laps. Guess what - their analysis shows that the INDICATED SPEEDS on THOSE videos are the inaccurate ones.

I have found it odd that everyone lay the smoking gun at Lamborghini's feet when this laptime emerged, and never questioned that it might be the Porsche video that was inaccurate here.

  • note: this only refers to the indicated MPH speeds that are shown on the post-edit rendered dash overlays. No one is questioning the times of the individual laps.

that would explain everything, especially the bit on the lambo vid where it puts on 80kmph in 0.8 of a second, maybe that's when they turned on the SRBs wink

What humble pie would that be Yipper? Can you point to a single post in the thread where I have categorically stated that I believe Lamborghini have cheated?

You can't as I haven't.

In fact there is far more evidence to suggest that I want to believe it's all legitimate than not.

That doesn't mean for one minute that I won't take on board the opinions of others especially when they have gone to greater lengths than someone like yourself to ask relevant questions.

It's called keeping an open mind Yipper.

And you think we are the ones who need to learn something from it??

Its well noted now that this is due to a GPS drop as that is where the speed data has come from. It also makes me laugh how this claim grows and grows with each day. It doesn't put on 80kmh in 0.8 of a second. Watch the video again. It drops out at about 169km/h, then comes back at 190km/h about 0.8 seconds later. That's 21kmh. Also, check the RPM (which is taken from CANBUS and is largely accurate). It reaches 7000RPM in 5th when the GPS comes back. Only takes a moment to find another section on the track where the car is at the same RPM, in the same gear, to see that the speed matches up.

Seems like a master stroke from Lamborghini.

Real, faked or pseudo-faked, everyone is talking about a special edition Huracan at the moment, and you know what they say about any publicity.

The all new McLaren Super Series seems to be largely invisible in comparison.

Well..... if lambo's press office did sit down in an office after the car did a stellar lap and thought, "how can we wind this one up a bit, i know, let's make the video a tiny bit inconsistent to get the internet ablaze" then fair play.... it worked and they're worth every penny of their salaries. that's some next level PR shizzle right there biggrin

my amateur diagnosis, it happened...

Never you mind

and the Haters now say what?

An awful lot of shoutey Tin Foil hat hater were on this thread earlier.
I imagine the people doubting the time will still be doubting it tbh, there isn't a lot in that to directly prove it was legitimate or otherwise.

750% increase in downforce is seriously impressive, regardless of the time being legit or not (I think it probably is) it'll be a seriously fast car on track.
