Have Audi Sport missed a trick here? This will go head to head with the new Alfa QV Sprint. I suspect it will be down on power vs 500hp and importantly the looks! The last RS5 looked and sounded great.

Will get a closer look next week and see whether it looks meaner in the flesh...

audi like merc have started offering 'Performance' versions so a 500bhp may be coming, they said in testing it was producing circa 550bhp

its an easy way to get and extra few grand from the customer and just needs a software map from audi

A lot of Audi's standard wheel designs aren't great (see most recent RS5 for example) - the most desirable/popular choices are always a cost option.

Why is it on virtually ever 'new car released thread' the majority of posts are critical of it? Doesn't matter what brand, what colour, what engine - the majority want to jump in and get the boot into it and highlight all its failings lol.

I think its a nice motor personally smile
Agreed! No matter which marque, it gets labelled/slated before anyone has actually seen it in the flesh, let alone driven it! silly

Very possible, they've offered it on most Turbo engines in recent times, so obviously this will qualify for a bit of a remap from the factory. Easy money as you say!

Most seem to be commenting on the hideous wheels on both examples shown, which seems an acceptable comment on a subjective topic?

Yes, of course, but it is just that, subjective, just as colours are. But, even on subjectives things like this, in the flesh, might change your mind, maybe not. Wheels have a nasty habit of growing on folk judging from past history on lots of cars.

Just saying too much pre-judgement imho.

Generally I like it, but not keen on the vents on the end of the lights (looks like they didn't want to make a new lamp tool to cover the end of the larger arches). I'll reserve judgement until it can be configured on the site with what I would want.

Not sure I like the looks but that could just be the wheels.

Regardless of anyone on this thread's preferences, aren't the PH team normally huge fans of big NA v8s? This sudden about face in support of downsizing is a bit jarring for me.

Perhaps next model year will be 4-spoke.

Even 3 spoke would be better. Max Power style.

Looks awesome to me. I don't think the V8 will be missed that much, felt a little heavy IMO. This new 2.9 engine on paper appears very strong. Presumably this unit should also make an appearance in the next RS4 and rumoured 'entry level' R8

Bye-bye high-revving and torqueless V8, hello hard-hitting twin-turbo V6.... All well and good but 317lb ft of torque and a peaky, naturally aspirated power meant it was left breathless in comparison once the latest turbocharged M4 and C63 rivals arrived.
I LOL'd hard at this. Breathless, peaky and torqueless are not words I would associate with the RS4. Having lived with mine for almost 3 years I never once thought it breathless, peaky or lacking in torque.
Indeed utter tosh, but I'm afraid the article is riddled with rubbish and the photos are dreadful.

Added some emphasis for those missing the point.
But high revving V8s do not feel breathless in comparison, the S65 in my old M3 didn't feel breathless against the S55 in my new M3.

They do things differently but the adjective "breathless" is lazy word to use to describe the differences, a N/a 4.0 V8 with 8 ITBs and a 8400rpm limit is anything but breathless.
