Love that blue colour, looks nice under the light.

Agreed on colour; Audi always launch their cars in colours nobody will actually want to buy.

I would rather a V than takig a V8 to the redline. Pointless and stupid, Some of you may love to redlie it, but then moan years down the line when down on compression.

Err wide arches, where?? As with most modern RS's those look far too subdued and dare I say apologetic to me, almost as if they are embarrassed to make the arches too big, grow a pair Audi and bring back RS's with some proper attitude.

As for the new engine, I'm sure it will be effective but a downsized V6 with turbo's compared to a V8 that could sing to 8000rpm? Er no. I thought downsizing was going out of fashion again anyway seeing as the emissions tests which favour downsized turbo engines have turned out to be a load of bks?

Overall meh.

I am sure there will be some decent wheel options similar to the V spokes on the outgoing RS4 and 5. Hopefully what appears as understated flared arches in the pics look more imposing in the flesh. Looks a bit like the Mustang side on!

Bye-bye high-revving and torqueless V8, hello hard-hitting twin-turbo V6.... All well and good but 317lb ft of torque and a peaky, naturally aspirated power meant it was left breathless in comparison once the latest turbocharged M4 and C63 rivals arrived.
I LOL'd hard at this. Breathless, peaky and torqueless are not words I would associate with the RS4. Having lived with mine for almost 3 years I never once thought it breathless, peaky or lacking in torque.
Indeed utter tosh, but I'm afraid the article is riddled with rubbish and the photos are dreadful.

go drive an RS6, drop a hair on the loud pedal and all 4 tyres will melt as your fired into the boot, then you understand how utterly gutless the V8 is low down, its worse than a NA CTR

of course when your up near the red line the V8 is bloody epic, a truly legendary engine and it works well in the R8, just not for me as a daily driver in a family car.

I've driven one several times, sorry but it left me cold, very competent car just not very exciting I preferred my ACS fettled F10 M5 which felt much rawer and involving which doesn't really say much about the RS6.

Nowadays Audi could do with someone giving them some advice on 'less is more'. Last week Land Rover were talking about 'reductionism' maybe Audi should give the Land Rover 'reductionism' fella a call.

So called 'prestige' car makers should have one eye on their design legacy and how their cars will viewed in the future. I'm no lover of marketing speak but this builds a 'brand legacy'. Classic Mercs have a 'presence', this consideration for how their cars will be viewed in the future seems to have been abandoned. Ugly, rusty W210 anyone?

German manufacturers once known for conservative styling and engineering integrity seem to have abandoned taste in pursuit of 'fur coat'.

why on earth would the locking diff be only an option on this type of car?

The old V8 in the RS5 was a great engine in the wrong car. It would have been a delight mounted in the middle of a lightweight sports car. In a bulky GT, it just felt out of place.

My overriding memory of that car was not necessarily that it felt slow. Certainly, it didn't feel fast, but more than that, it was a case of that V8 being mismatched with the rest of the car. The internal sensation of a light V8 spinning up was well disguised by the sound deadening. The linearity of the power delivery only adds to this disconnect encouraged by Audi's class leading insulation...! Probably moreso than any car since I last drove my old A8, the numbers of the speedometer and their relationship to the sensation of going fast are entirely at odds.

A colleague of mine had one, and I recall the sensation of the TTRS she replaced it with being far more impressive, and sounding better. Is felt faster because it was easier for her to drive, and she is probably quite representative of the majority of drivers, who like instant, easy shove rather than winding something up. To that end, I always suspected the S5 would have been a more cohesive package.

I expect this engine, being more about effortless shove, will resonate far better than the old one did with the Audi customer base.

money money money

make a car remove all the bits you know the punters want, then charge extra to put them back

this is the german way, how else would you get them to pay over 100k for an RS6 smile

The current BMW M and Audi RS lineup is probably the worst it has ever been in terms of my desire to own one. Alfa have joined the game at exactly the right time

Why is it on virtually ever 'new car released thread' the majority of posts are critical of it? Doesn't matter what brand, what colour, what engine - the majority want to jump in and get the boot into it and highlight all its failings lol.

I think its a nice motor personally smile
Very true. Normally, the worst critics are the ones who cannot afford one. Could have better wheels than in the pics agreed, and I'm sure when on sale there will be some much nicer options.

No not for me personally, just a human nature observation in general across most upmarket car forums over the years.
