No not for me personally, just a human nature observation in general across most upmarket car forums over the years.
It just goes to show that Audi (and manufacturers in general) know their market, I suppose. It doesn't matter how much or little I like a car if I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Of course the profile of people who can "afford" cars like this has been changed dramatically by the general market's transition from cash to finance and the manufacturers have (quite rightly) changed the cars accordingly.

Bye-bye high-revving and torqueless V8, hello hard-hitting twin-turbo V6.... All well and good but 317lb ft of torque and a peaky, naturally aspirated power meant it was left breathless in comparison once the latest turbocharged M4 and C63 rivals arrived.
I LOL'd hard at this. Breathless, peaky and torqueless are not words I would associate with the RS4. Having lived with mine for almost 3 years I never once thought it breathless, peaky or lacking in torque.
Added some emphasis for those missing the point.
Quite.

The RS5 is not a deft sportscar; look elsewhere for that. It's a big GT. As such, the naturally aspirated V8 was just past it. Felt slow compared to modern turbocharged rivals, and gave poor fuel economy. That's not to say the V8 didn't sound nice, or wasn't fun to wring out, but time marches on I'm afraid.

Perhaps it is a shame they have done the psychological back step with fewer cylinders, but Audi, Mercedes etc. have all proven you can now make a turbocharged car sound good now. I have a new RS6 and it definitely sounds like a V8, despite the turbos.

I agree with what someone else said about this new RS5 - where are these big arches they're talking apart? Just looks like an S Line to me.
