I guess I am in the minority her but I think it looks terrible. It's not understated, it's dull. Blobby, soap bar styling and that horrible chintzy grill. The rear looks like a Passat.

Whatever anyone thinks of the looks, MB have to admired for not constantly knocking out the same old same old like VW, AUDI, BMW, Porsche.

The point was they aren't exactly daring with new designs. The new model is a slightly larger version of the old model.

But go back further to the CLK and the differences are then easier to see. Each model is more often an evolution of the last, but given enough generations it can be seen.

50 grand to sit behind a rattly four pot. Once they put a decent engine in it though I might want one.

I do like the shape and look of the current 2 door c-class, e-class and s-class. Obviously they kinda look alike but that doesn't matter. The interior looks really lovely and not blingy as someone above has mentioned.

Unfortunately reading the reviews on MB forums for say the c-class W205 it seems that these machines are style over substance. Rattles, electrical gremlins (Renault parts) and plastic components in the cabin that break similar to dysons is not good at all.

So for me it is a miss since my head will always rule my heart when it comes to buying a daily commute.

Even if a C-class is cheaper to lease than a Mondeo?
The purists might not be happy, but I'm seeing more C and E classes on the road than ever before.

Sorry - forgot to mention I'm in the minority because of the amount of miles I need to do leasing is out of the question.

What engines could you get in the old one, and why did they never do an AMG version?!

I like the exterior, the design actually looks cohesive and understated which is a rarity in Mercs theses days. Even the interior looks pretty decent.....until you get to those ridiculous stuck on ipads that is. That really is awful, haven't enough people complained about this already? Other manufacturers have managed to integrate this stuff better, look at the new Alfa Guilia or the LR Velar for perfect examples of how to integrate displays properly. The only justification I can see for it is cost cutting, not something I want to really think about in a £50k Mercedes. As long as they persist with that ridiculous design I'll never buy another Mercedes.

What ipads? The old C class has an ipad, which is um...an ipad stuck on the dash, which is truly horrible. A lot of new models seem to feature a digital dash similar to this new E Coupe now.

Only people who do not have them complain about them. Ive yet to read a single complaint from an owner.

Look at the photos, I think you'll find a. there's only one what you call an 'ipad', and b. it's not an ipad. Am I looking at the same photos as everyone else? smile

£50k + options no doubt for a v6 E-Class coupe.

Or £50k with full options for a low mileage CL600 coupe....

I was looking at the last generation one of these on auto trader and unfortunately even that was pages and pages of 4 cylinder diesels frown

So even when it gets to barge prices there will hardly be any with a proper 6 cylinder petrol

Digital displays are way cheaper than conventional displays with masses of buttons and are endlessly configurable.
