Hyperbole, much?

The photo below is the front face of the rear wheel trim. The black plastic (lowest 6-7 cm) is marred badly by road grime, sand, stones being flicked up. You can literally see the dirt line running along the lower white sills. The 'damage' to the black trim is 100% the same on both sides of the car. The car is 5 months old. Dealer suggesting i pay for new trim. I say it's a design fault and that the trim should be more recessed to avoid being a stone trap.
I've read through this thread and some posters do go overboard with the sarcasm.
In regard to the damage; It's not clear from the picture exactly what the damage really is. If it were clean it would be easier to see, but I suspect that would make the op look even more picky.
OP you say your no to interested / don care about other posters opinions. To be fair your original post doesn't ask for comments or replies, but by posting that picture and your original message what did you realistically expect? Especially in this part of the forum.

Thanks for all the help you miserable pricks hehe It has been resolved to my satisfaction
You mean you've accepted it.
nope

They're going to clean up your existing trim with a hair dryer / boot polish, then apply some clingfilm wink
They're doing a full redesign and recall wink

Or, OP could be bought hehe

They make BBQ lids for the blind ? How odd
Perhaps it should be promoted by a celeb like "Bear Grylls Braille Grill" ?

Mudflaps .. job done.

Anyone who cares for their paintwork / bodywork appreciates the damage they save over time.

The thing is we would all be a little miffed if our new car was showing wear after such a short period of time, after just 6 months the car should still feel very 'new' to the OP. It's a motoring forum so our cars are usually our pride and joy, and I think most people get that.

The gentle ribbing (from me at least) was due to the notion of protecting a plastic trim from damage by adding a plastic protection, and by pursuing the dealer for a resolution. Chips on paintwork are a different matter, but come on this is just a bit of plastic at the bottom of the car made of plastic so it's not damaged by stone chips.

My grandmother had a Ken Hom Minicomm enabled wok - marvellous bit of kit.

That brown on the paint looks like tar and will wipe off easily.

Is that part that's peeling off, on a plastic trim of some sort?

It's a different part but it's painted plastic, yes. I've already had a body shop look at it and it's clear what it is. I'm just seeing what you guys think. I think i know hehe

You can see the tyre in the second image. Black wheel arch then a 5 cm(colour coded) vertical strip which joins the door.

Those last pics of the trim peeling are certainly not acceptable.

Why are you concerned? After all :

The dealer agrees with me so that is all that matters.
Just give them the car and go for a nice walk or something.

The first Pic is nothing? You mean the one showing the large piece of paint lifting?

He's on about your tar mark in your original post, obviously.

i'll keep the thread updated. On this recent 'find', Lookers VW say it's a stone chip and won't fix it. I like a challenge smile
