Don't talk like a fool, I have been driving for over 30 years and I know what 30 looks like. If you don't then you shouldn't be driving
I didn't say I didn't know what 30 looks like, your missing the point entirely anyway and any advice would be clearly wasted on you, go dress up in a hi vis like a walt and catch those dangerous criminals clap

Balls do you.

I have had people coming standing in their gardens shaking their fists at me in a 30 limit for going "too fast" and shouting "SLOW DOWN". Do you know what I was driving? A farm tractor, top speed, 26.2mph. Admittedly, there were a lot of us using that road, but we were still the slowest vehicles on the road. Happened to me again a couple of years ago, this time by someone who's house is on the top of a hill.

That picture of the road looks like it should be a 40 limit and one that isn't too rigidly enforced.

For the record, I walk to the shops, run up to 30 miles a week and cycle to work on top of driving all sorts.

And while I'm on, there are no "rat runs", but there are people using public roads that they are entitled to use.

You think that this wouldn't be bad enough on your road, but on my road there is a nursery with very young children, yet there is the chav's going at 60mph downhill in their GTI slung low in their seats.

This quote came from one of the police web-sites - I guess they'll monitor how many letters they send before they take more official action. It's not a bad thing IMO to quantify if speeding really is a problem.

'Community Speed Watch (CSW) engages the community in addressing speed related offending. Local volunteers join together and monitor traffic speeds at identified road locations in the community. Information is recorded and passed to the police, which results in a warning letter being sent to the registered keeper.'

http://www.wiltshire.police.uk/departments/crime-p...

(Edited to add - they'll only support this in 20, 30 & 40mph restricted areas)

We did........
Cost is a factor, unless there has been a serious incident they won't even look at it

I run on the pavement and am thus, vulnerable to attack for speeding drivers. The speed of the traffic has bugger all effect on me as a pedestrian. I once ran over to plod doing a speed check, to explain to him that the speed of passing traffic didn't effect me in the slightest. As a cyclist, anecdotally, the people getting a wiggle on tent to give me more room than the "safe" drivers that drive past me slowly, but just about take the skin off my elbows.

I think that the only effective solution is to move. It's what we had to do - much nicer living at the end of a cul-de-sac.

You'd think that the local plod would be up for a speed trap, caring about safety as they do?

This just strikes me as an odd thing to do - why do you think he'd be interested in what you had to say, what was his reaction?

For reference they are drives on the right, a side road on the left and further side roads and drives all the way along for around 1/2 mile to a roundabout
Why the hell do they design roads like this in the 1st place? It's obvious to anybody with more than a single brain cell what the outcome will be rolleyes

Just cable tie bunches of flowers to the lamp posts. That'll slow them down.
