My car has gone from on-pavement to on-drive so it should be even less.
You think so?
I'm led to believe that street parking is always cheaper for insurance quotes - over any other option.
Think about it, how do cars get stolen these days? They break into your house, steal your keys and drive away.

If you're on the street, it is far less obvious how a car is linked to a house. It is very unlikely you'll face anything other than losing a wing mirror, which would rarely involve going through insurance.

I had an interesting experience with car insurance also.
If I wanted my renewal to start on the 1st of the month it would have cost double what it would cost to have it start on the 9th of the month.
Suffice to say the car sat on the drive till the 9th and saved me a few hundred pounds.
I even rang and spoke to someone about it and they didn't know why.
The only reason I can think of is as it was the day before it was due for renewal. they have most folk over a barrel as it's against the law to not be insured so folk just pay up.
I had a similar experience with price comparison websites. The sooner the renewal date was, the more expensive the quotes were. Being young, the cheapest quote for the next day was over £2000 compared to £1000 for 30 days later. The thing is if you get a quote for 30 days and click the link to go to the insurer's website you can change the date back to the next day without impacting the quote

Another thing I experienced at renewal with Admiral was that I could get a cheaper quote with them just by changing the name on the policy. When I rang up, the salesman said I could change the name on the policy documents immediately after renewing. Saved £500 by doing that.

Wow? surely thats more than a bit dodge though? Unless its something like using a shortened name (ie. John instead of Jonathan?). Wonder if you can get the same results by adding/removing a middle name?

Ok I am sending the form off tomorrow to request details.

So far for a 2.0t fsi a3 s line

Churchill
Directline
Sawtons brokers
all of the comparison sites
£850 FC

Aviva
£380 FC

Aviva is the only place that will insure me for the proper price. Also I checked and I am insured with Aviva and not Churchill which I thought I was insured with (none of them send docs anymore). I seem to remember Aviva was the only company I could renew with but I thought that was because I had just moved house so address problems, maybe it is because the rest think I have 12 points or something?

Will be interesting to see what it says on the database request but...why is Aviva so different to the others if they all use the same DB?

It's amazing the variation in quotes considering how few insurance companies their actually are ,most are just subsidiary companies .
The sooner some real regulations are imposed on them the better .
They are just fleecing us as much as they can get away with .

If everyone wants £850, apart from aviva who want £380, then I'd suggest £850 is the proper price and Aviva have under priced it.
