Good afternoon/evening

I'm looking for some advice, I posted this in the EV/alt fuel section but found no response...
This weekend I'll be heading to take a look at a 2000 Volvo V70 PH2, with the older 2.5tdi engine

From scouring the internet it seems that it should be possible to run this car on svo, the supermarket stuff. Later on perhaps I will experiment with wvo. Does anybody have any experience of running on veg oil with this engine?
I believe it's the same one used by Audi and VW...
The plan for the car is the perfect roadtrip car for Europe
Further, it seems that the world land speed record for a veg oil car is 155mph. Perhaps with a bit of tuning up to say 300hp the old girl could break that and become the fastest car in the world (powered by veg oil)
Any thoughts?

Best,
Mark

In my experience veg oil eventually breaks engines, but it might be worth doing if you can make it last long enough. Google veg oil forums, they will be more useful than this forum.

Really? That is a shame
You are right, people here enjoy their petrol much more than cooking oil

I have a mate who ran a Golf on veg oil for years. The engine eventually went bang and had to be replaced, but he calculated that the cost of replacing the engine was less than the money he had saved by using veg oil.

I ran my Musso on veg oil from Tesco, but it could run on other oils too, but I didn't try.

The inline filter had to be changed every now again, but it ran fine. You can get 25l oil from Costco or suchlike and it works out pretty cheap. I didn't bother with that and still worked out about £1/litre.

Also the truck could be run on diesel and oil mixed in together, so it doesn't have to have as much impact on the engine as 100% veg fuel option

Do you think the emissions would be any better running on pure veg oil?
