Find someone you trust who owns a slow, wallowy barge. (I can personally recommend a diesel Avensis.) Swap cars with them for a month. When you get the fiesta back, it will seem much, much better.

Its way more than 50bhp more and it weighs about the same.

Its 133bhp vs 215bhp (mountune) plus a hell of s lot more talk, just doesent feel that rapid or exciting.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh that's the problem.

It won't feel fast because it's burdened with front wheel drive - I felt the same sense of disappointment with my 250bph Focus ST. The fun with these cars occurs on the B roads.

Other than the obligatory MX-5 (although it's well worth a try), how about changing the fiesta for a boring barge for everyday stuff and buy a classic for 'rawness' - MG Midget, 205 Gti, triumph spitfire, Porsche 924S etc?

I think the issue is that even warm hatches are a bit too good. The Puma I had I could drive the wheels off it on normal roads with a huge grin but even my Fabia is a bit to quick to spank down B roads. The Fabia doesn't even handle that well but it's limit is still bit higher than I'm prepared to take it on most roads.
I would really like a Swift sport as that would be a really hoot around country lanes but not a big enough boot.

Ive come from a twingo 133 and a company octavia to a mk7 fiesta st.

Its rated as one of best hot hatches, but i just dont think its that special after owning a month. It doesent feel that quick (has 215bhp, 236lb/ft), it doesent feel lairy and the engine note is very dull and linear.

My twingo felt 100% more exciting.

Am i not driving it properly? Does it need an aftermarket exhaust to spice things up a bit? It just feels overly competant and ive fallen out of love with it already. Help, i need to keep it for a few years for financial reasons.

Skinny tyres, totally underpowered but he found it the most fun he had in 4 wheels.

I recently sold my Vanquish replacing it with an AMG 55 SL, which has some after market performance mods. When I first got the Aston I was in awe of the performance, over time this dulled and the performance, which was no different to when I initially bought it felt somewhat flat. The AMG now feels more than sufficient having restored the feelings of exhilaration but I feel this in turn will dull once I become accustomed to it. Human nature I suspect. I don't know where this will lead to as I am to old for a power ranger suit and supebike.

Could i just ask what you love about your st, just out of curiousity, might restore some excitement in me lol
I think your expectations are slightly unrealistic to be honest. I've had quite a few Renaultsports previously and the ST is, so far as I'm concerned, the modern successor to my beloved 182 clio, which is what your old Twinge basically was. It's nippy without being ridiculously fast, but for me its all about the chassis. Turn in, lift off. Smile. If you drive it all the time on a roads with the traction on full, it's going to be boring and tedious, the ride isnt good enough for that to be its main role. For me, driving mostly on b-roads its great. It also fulfills the hot hatch remit perfectly. Cabin is lifted by the leather recaros, I can take the kids and wife out in it at the weekends, it's got climate, cruise, heated seats, ok stereo, returns at least 30 to the gallon no matter how I drive it. But when I'm on my own and taking the long way home, it's a load of fun. It's even got enough space with the seats down for the odd tip run. I haven't tracked it yet but reckon it would be awesome fun on a wet day in particular. Basically it covers a lot of bases really well.

If I didn't have kids, I'd have a 2 seater sports car as my only car (I have one of those as well!). But for what I use it for its perfect. I can't think of anything to replace it with, although am tempted by a GT86 (or, in a different financial league an evora 400)

I found the Fiesta ST boring, I owned one for 2 months, and then bought the same as previous car I had before, a Megane RS.

There was nothing wrong with it per se, I just didn't "gel" with it.I found it a little dull and was quick, but..meh..

Ironically, it rattled more than my older Megane RS does..

I have the same problems. Came from a Vauxhall corsa 1.2 into a SEAT Leon Cupra 290. I had previously owned a vehicle polo 1.0 and a jag xj6 4.0 straight 6. The most fun I've had in a car was in the jag, the lovely straight 6, rear wheel drive with no esp etc. Even the VW and Vauxhall were fun, thrash them everywhere. The SEAT on the other hand is so bloody quick and through the corners you can't enjoy it at normal speeds as it is just so competent. The end of third gear comes in no time and by that time you are getting towards silly speeds on a nsl. Then there is the sound, there is just nothing to get excited about, very few pops and a dull engine note. I know it's a 4 cylinder turbo but there's just nothing to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, , nothing that really excites like the jag did. Don't get me wrong the seat is a good car but I was expecting more from a 'hot hatch'. I think a golf gti may be a sweet spot?

The noise for me is the biggest issue i think, it sounds so dull, im hoping a cat back will improve it and make me enjoy the car more.

It could be that the 133 is a very direct, old skool kind of hot hatch. Although I've not driven the ST I do own a 133 and it is a fantastic hot hatch. Light, revvy and as direct as you can probably get in a relatively modern car.

I've no doubt the ST is a great car but perhaps not as raw so to speak as the 133.
