Porsche does some nice colours.........but............

That looks gorgeous!

Not wise for reselling, though...
Lime gold was a bit of a horror to be honest. In some lights it looked good - like an early Porsche colour, 275 light green metallic (below). But in other lights it looked a dull beige.

See, I quite like that colour. Much more attractive than white/grey/silver/black, although it helps if the car is a looker - the A Class is one of the most hideous euroboxes on sale today. Can't wait for it to end production, hateful car.

Here's a mid-1970's Ford UK colour chart for comparison with today's typical manufacturers monochrome dullness biggrin

I had ,from memory,4 Fords with colours off that list.
Onyx green Escort Sport MK1
Modena green Capri RS3100
Sahara beige Cortina MK3
Diamond white RS2000 MK2.
Only 3 from that chart for me, but snap with the Sahra Beige Cortina Mk3 laugh
Plus one of my RS2000's was Sebring Red, and I briefly owned a Mexico in Olympic Blue.

At what-o'clock-in-the-morning did the Polo Harlequin seem like a good idea?

I occasionally see a Mk3 Harlequin on my commute to work and while I wouldn't have one myself, it always makes me smile. It's looking a bit tired (the red panels have started to fade), but at least it hasn't been slammed or otherwise ruined. I always used to wonder, what colour is printed on the V5?

I saw a pink Porsche Cayenne yesterday in Glasgow. Not this one but very similar
Winner!

My first thought was brown, but there are some cars it can work on like this porsche, same goes for beige and a lot of the others. However I'm struggling to think of a car where pink could EVER look good.

While trying to find that above picture on google I did find this and its not as vile as most pink cars.

To answer the thread, grey, everything is grey nowadays.

Grey people in grey cars, driving in grey cities in grey weather.

Bright colours are good.

One of my cars is silver grey, see username....getmecoat...so I've jazzed it up with stickers.

I had a Sahara Beige Mk1 Fiesta, a Calypso Green Mk2 Escort and a Signal Yellow Fiesta. Dull colour = dull outlook on life.

V5 will say 'Multicolour'

My Forester that is mainly silver with dark grey lower panels/ bumpers is classed as multicolour.

Never realised they made a Polo Harlequin in that shape?

Not sure if anyone remembers but our own markmullens had a Boxster a few years ago that would have won this thread hands down...
As I recall it was a horrific shade of green on the outside with a matching interior.. every surface was green, he turned up to a BTaP in it and took something of a ribbing!

They didn't, don't worry. Going by the Internet, that car (along with another) was wrapped by Drift Bridge Volkswagen in Epsom to serve as promotional tools for the model.

I think Harlequin models are a lot of fun actually. They're a bit silly, they're totally impractical, and yet that probably only helps their appeal.

Nobody's mentioned it yet, so here is the obligatory Pheonix yellow M3. Like a kinda cross between piss yellow & puke green.
Came in this thread to mention this, surprised it's taken 6 pages!

I took this pic years ago. Piss yellow car with "MAD 4P" numberplate. He/She obviously not shy about their tastes hehe

If it's unpopular, it's probably rather nice. The converse of the maxim, popular equals st.

I rather like it. Especially with Laguna Seca upholstery.

The beryl blue over mushroom w126 is a perfect combination.

And on the theme of the Ford catalogue, here is Mercedes' early-80s offering:

It compares favourably to today's. The CLS, for example:

Yep correct as back in the day they were the thing to have in the SW London Burbs, I saw one at Drift Bridge and asked and they confirmed what Levin said, it was wrapped as a promotion, wonder if the owner of the one you see would part with it as that would be a future classic??

Whats impractical? If anything all the different colours make a damage repair-respray simpler, as there is no need to blend into adjoining panels, just blast the repaired panel and job jobbed.

The most arrogant are the fools that when selling a car, write something like, "in the BEST colour combination" like there opinion is 100% bonafide and the whole world agrees!!

Um, no- I don't want a black car with horrible red leather seats, that look like they come out of some brothel or a "lady who lunches" wish list to her credit provider(husband)!!

I totally get that for some, this would be a lovely combo but, don't be so stupid/arrogant to think I share your opinions- and that everyone else should, as well!!

You're totally right about dealing with accident damage. When I wrote that I was thinking more of going to work, interviews and suchlike. But the accident damage point is very, very good.

Mmm... i did a google image search for Polo Harlequin, first 3 cars that had readable UK number plates all show colour as MULTI-COLOURED via a DVLA vehicle check.

P850 OHE has yellow roof, sills and rear quarters. Same with P413 CRD. P477 EUK too.

P177 LSF shows an image of a Polo with green quarters, sills and roof & also shows on DVLA vehicle check as MULTI-COLOURED.
