Forgetting about the cat, won't we have total gridlock? Take the simple mini roundabout scenario that often happens.... all drivers waiting, then all go at oncelaugh. Traffic movement is (at present) reliant on someone just 'taking the lead/plowing straight on' and others waiting? or someone waving "after you", so how will the fully auto cars deal with it? gridlock?
Surely the cars would know which one of them actually has priority over the other? In my experience, most mini roundabouts are built in such a way that there is a given "major" and "minor" road on them such that its give way to the right, and if all cars are turning across, then its the priority of the person on the major road turning into the minor road who goes first.

Those built outside of this scenario are the exception rather than the rule.

But of course, people forget the rules.

Click bait crap. Turns out that the Uber car approached a light, within the speed limit, entered the crossing when it was on green (just), turning to yellow whilst it was in the crossing, which is perfectly fine, then someone waiting to turn across traffic couldn't see properly to confirm it was clear but decided to go anyway, crashing into the Uber car. Non-story.

Probably the same way I do, and not stop, let the cat deal with avoiding the two ton lump of metal heading it's way.

Before you know it self-driving cars will posting on PH looking for help in coming to terms with the cat that they just maimed and blaming the rain for impairing their radar and cameras.

How will they react to potholes?
