Hi guys,

I have a battered old Arai chaser doohan replica that I need to replace. I've just bought a new to me, RSV4 in white and I'm looking for new lids.

I'm considering the new Arai RX7v helmet, found a deal for £599 including iridium visor (Guigliano) replica.

What I'm after is something a bit bright and lairy, a link to either Italy or Aprilia is always a nice touch.

Anybody got any recommendations?

Thanks

I'll look into the shoei then, any reason why? I like a pretty light helmet too.

That looks great aside from the depiction of someone from Peaky Blinders on the back.

looks like a picture of david beckham. Not sure why you'd pay to have that on your helmet...

How about a Bell Race Star, bit left field and maybe not lairy enough but definitely light at only 100g more than the pro star and about 400g lighter than the Arai ?

I've had the AGV Corsa for a year now and it is the best helmet I've ever owned. Very cool in the summer, little wind resistance and very light. I also love the shape and most of the guys I ride with have them too. You could probably get an AGV Pista for under £600 which is the full carbon version, very sexy indeed!

Agree with all of the above TTN is bang on definitely try before you buy but then again at any price you should be trying a helmet before you buy. I loved the Shoei X Spirit III and was having it. But within 30 mins I had a monster headache right at the front of my forehead that just kept getting worse the longer I wore it. Tried the Bell and bingo no issues whatsoever even after wearing it for 7 hours once. I think you need a long thin type head rather than a more rounded head for a Shoei fit ?

Started with an Arai, then went to HJC and Bell.

After years, i have at last discovered Shoei. I have the NXR and it is by far the best helmet i have ever had! Light, well made, ventilation is superb as is the fit and the pinlock is amazing !

Only one way to recommend a helmet in my opinion, go try some on.

I've got a Shoei NXR which is extremely light and comfy, not the quietest but it fits me really well which is most important for me.

I've got the titanium weave X-Lite and I think the fit is fantastic. Helmet fit is a personal matter, a lid that works well for your mate might not suit you.

Over the years I've worn stadium, Kangol, AGV, Shoie, Bell and Arai.

I have a Bell MX5 Carbon, another Bell that looks like the MX5 but isn't Carbon, an Arai RX7 and 3 Arai Excess ( I think that's what they're called), 2 Black and 1 White.

The Carbon Bell was £330 with a Black Visor the Arais were £240 each with a black visor.

I can't get on with Shoes for some reason.
