850 TDI, over budget but a rare thing, one owner low mileage and looks very well kept.......
Great cars, but not sure I see much call for it as a classic for classic money.

Barra of all places! I love it there. I'm surprised I've never seen this wee belter rolling round the island. Love an R4, brilliant cars.

Why in heaven’s name do you put LPG on a lightweight economic car?
Surely LPG is for old Range Rovers and other such vehicles that never did more than 12 mpg

Great car, keenly priced too.

Arguably a better car than a 2CV and a third of the price.

I'd still take another 2CV though.

Seems fairly cheap as Insights go. They still look fantastic.
Sorry, not even if I squint.

Wonder if there's even an LPG source on the island. I'm near Oban (mainland) and the nearest LPG station is probably 43 mile away, if they still stock it.

Anyone remember Jalopy magazine?
I'm sure it was of the R4 they wrote something like "no so much a car, as team of parts all in it together" and that it was good team spirit rather than good engineering that got you where you wanted to go. Always kinda fancied a go in one after that, and do see them on the road from time to time still so there's something in them!

Mum had one 40+ years ago for a short while - in real terms they are a POS

But as with many things, call it character and look through rose tinted spectacles and they have a certain charm

Better than a 2CV or walking but that's about it

I remember Jalopy, great wee read...and I owned a 4@ 30 years ago and it was brilliant. No rose tint required. Wonderful, compliant ride, ridiculous roadholding, very practical, spacious for its footprint, frugal with the 'big bore' 1100 engine! The dash gearchange was brilliant, better than the 2cvs and yes, it was much better than a 2cv overall. I'd have another tomorrow as a quirky commuter/dog wagon, preferably a van...but I'm perennially skint, so that's that idea quashed!

I love the R4, great workhorse and you can do racing changes with that hockey stick gear lever. Plenty of them still running around in France.
