Given how long it took to sell at a relatively low price, I'd probably push it into a barn for a few more years yet.

Great bit of design. I imagine there are very few that have escaped the crusher.

This on the other hand is a honey. It could do with being about a foot lower though.
That looks lovely. thumbup

There must have been something a bit special about them as they had a one-make race series for them back in the day.

Nearest I got was a 1991 214SLi - my one and only company car! But it felt much better built than the 1990 Cavalier I had before.
Weird looking car these days. Didn't notice them being odd at the time but it clearly has its arse chopped to make the 3-door shape and looks like two different cars from the front and back.
The 3 door shared the same tailgate / rear as the 5 door, only the side pressings were different

Pretty much every family car of that era holds some desire for exactly that reason.

Nice to see one in a colour. This and that Rover could do with meeting in the middle on ride-height though, it looks very odd sat so low on standard wheels.

I love these. Wasn't there a BTCC flavoured special edition with a rear wing from the touring cars (larger than this pictured)?

ETA: I think this is said special edition, being a 2.0S RTi.

There was a limited edition ‘Airflow’ Laguna with higher rear spoiler and a front splitter (beloved of Max Power folk) to homologate the parts for BTCC.

It was hastily introduced as a response to Alfa Romeo’s ‘bits in a bag in the boot’ aero package.

Good knowledge.

Bit much, especially with trims and a tow-bar!

Supposedly they don't corrode.

Only two corrosion advisories on the MoT history, petrol tank strap and a brake servo.

The airflow model with the spoilers came as an option with the 2.0 RT/RXE engines in a lower (115bhp?) state of tune.

This is the 2.0 S RTi which came with the 2.0 that was shared with the Clio Williams albeit with 10bhp less in this model. The spoiler lip on this one looks wrong though - should have some (brake?) ducts ISTR - like on the Airflow just not as pronounced.

My dad had an S RTi as a company car which I drove a lot as he was often out of the country. They handle magnificently - one of the best fwd cars I have driven. Unfortunately the engine (which sings when on cam) is woefully light on torque below about 4k rpm - to the point that if you wanted to get away sharpish you needed to drop the clutch and spin the wheels to get it in the rev band. Allegedly... Still a brilliant car though.

The maroon Laguna with the damaged front wings and the 323F V6 thread in Readers' Rides reminded me of that Xedos 6 that looks as though the painted in a rotisserie paintwork has had the lacquer scoured off it.

Nice sounding V6 that, I think is non-interference, reasonable miles and FSH:

As the paintwork is shot give it a white BTCC make over?

The maroon and yellow BTCC make over would be easier?

I had the 3 door 220 GTi for a few years. Great torquey engine, fun to drive and somewhat better put together than the Vauxhall/Ford opposition. Eventually sold when the third head gasket started to leak... Probably best to go for the high revving Honda engined 1.6!

Got me perusing the local FB marketplace pages...

Looks in surprisingly good nick for the price (£850). Would just need to get it running.

Proper classic (£4500).

Slightly left field (and not quite a car), but I like this... £2600.

Autotrader says 1.8L but badges say 190E 2.0

As Autrader said 1.8L and it's a G plate I wondered if it was Carb rather than E for injection. I didn't check the badges on the bootlid.

Shouldn't the underside of the bootlid be red too?
