The Rover GTi had a fantastic little rev monster motor from the Honda Civic CRX (pre V Tec) the Citroen GT had a little lovely revy TU motor also fitted in the 205GT and later 206 and Citroen models in various forms a good strong 8 valve motor IME

Peak thread surely.

£3,900. Needs a front wing mind, but other than that...

Autotrader says 1.8L but badges say 190E 2.0

As Autrader said 1.8L and it's a G plate I wondered if it was Carb rather than E for injection. I didn't check the badges on the bootlid.

Shouldn't the underside of the bootlid be red too?
DVLA have it as a 2.0 E. The underside of the boot is always grey for some reason AFAIK, same with W124s.

I do like a 2 door 900, the rot scares me though.

A good colour and some nice wheels really can make a car.

Always liked these, and this looks quite smart with sensible miles

Just a shame about the Spanish 'box
The gearbox doesn’t bother me too much, especially as the 190 had a ‘normal’ handbrake rather than a footbrake. I would prefer it in a more subtle (or boring) metallic instead of DCR.

The other night I went down the YouTube rabbit hole of 230 kompressor engine conversions on these (mostly done by Poles), looks like it could be fun and make a cheaper alternative to a 2.5-16.

Rot? I sat in a 2 door T16S in 2000 that was for sale in Bristol. I loved the looks and the image, but interior trim on the driver's door was starting to degrade and looked like it was a 'classic' already.

Thanks for the W201/W124 bootlid info.

Got me perusing the local FB marketplace pages...

Looks in surprisingly good nick for the price (£850). Would just need to get it running.

That's a steal as a summer runabout. Needs a good clean and what's the worst the engine can be? Even a replacement engine would still be a bargain.

They rust like very little else. One day I'll have a restored Monte Carlo yellow cabriolet, but life's too short to deal with a tired one.

That Prelude looks lovely, had one the same spec but in dark metallic green. One of the best sounding engines when climbing up the revs, my 4ws was a bit sketchy on motorways but generally handled and went very well.

How does a car runs upy only going 2K miles ?! If it was some kind of super/hyper car I can sort of understand it.

Apparently it was the last year of production and so he bought it to lay down for when his 1986 2.0HL finally expired (a little like the Crown Vic with taxis and law enforcement in the US), but it didn't, it's still his daily, so the LXi just stayed snuggled up in the garage.

1993 on a K-plate - does that qualify for classic status yet? - Can't remember when I last saw one that wasn't rotting on a drive way.

...don't get to excited - It's just the GT4 bonnet (and gearbox)

Never had a 4th Gen; always wanted one though. Did have a 5th Gen BB8 Motegi; that was a superb car (even better when I finally found a locking pin to get the tracking/alignment sorted with the 4WS etc)

Brilliant car and the H22 was a superb engine (better still when I fitted ATR cams, had it mapped and fitted a lightened fly wheel etc)
